My eyes found myself in the mirror of my closet door. I was wearing a light red floral dress with blue jean jacket and a pair of sneakers. My hair was in a low beach curl. I also grabbed a small hand bag and deposited my wallet, phone, some lip gloss and some other things and exited my room.
My legs brought me before Katie and Hayley’s room. I knocked on it and waited for a moment or two before pushing the door open. Still they both were missing. Another fear of my mine was how are they going to take the news of me moving out. And above all that, with Nick. I am sure there will be less consequences if I explained the situation. But I am not sure how to tell them the news.
I made my way to the ground floor and hailed a cab. I took my phone out and messaged Adrian.
AMELIA: I will be at the diner within ten minutes.
ADRIAN: I am already there.
It warmed my heart that he was still early to all those rendezvous. I know he doesn’t know me but I can still see the same Kid, Adrian was before all these years.
AMELIA: Meet you there. xoxo.
I was full of nerves for the whole ride. I know I will not be able to lie someone when I am face-to-face. I was also not able to decide when was the right time to tell him that I am Smith and not Wilson.
I guess never is a good time.
My heart pounded when I entered the diner and stood at the entrance to search for Adrian. The diner was in retro style and it was pretty vacant for a Saturday. I searched at the stools and raked my eyes at the booth and there he was.
The booth was in the corner of the diner and he was facing the front of the store. But his eyes were trained on the menu. So, he didn’t see me approach towards his table. I chuckled lightly and strode towards him. Always inattentive of his surroundings.
“Hi.”
He jumped slightly when he heard my voice but recovered quickly and scrambled to his feel.
“Hi, to you to.” He said and came hug me. He rested his hand on the small of my back and guided me to the leather booth opposite to him and hep me sit. I craned my head at his height and smiled crookedly. He grinned back and made his way to his seat.
“I am sorry I didn’t see you coming.” He said smiling sheepishly.
“You never did notice anyone.” I shrugged.
“Huh?” He asked confused.
I snapped my head in his direction and realized I said something relating to his past.
“I said you will never know who is coming near you other than that if you are a super big FBI agent who is ready with a gun in his hostler.” I covered myself quickly.
He laughed heartily and glanced at me.
“You look pretty.” He finally said after minutes of staring at me. I could feel the blush creeping up my cheeks so I merely nodded and glanced at the diner. A waiter was making his way towards us. I thanked him internally for saving me from some awkward reply I would have definitely given.
“Hello guys. What would you like to eat and drink if you are ready with your orders?” The waiter said in a sweet welcoming voice.
“I will have some soda and your special burger with some French fries. Amelia?” He turned his head expectantly to me.
“Ummm… I will also have a soda and a grilled chicken over garden salad. Thank you.”
