10. expect the unexpected

I tossed and turned around my
bed, with no intentions to sleep I sat straight in my bed holding my head in my hands. It was all overwhelming, if you told me a couple of months ago that I would have sex with my teacher, and would have got threatening words by a play boy to 'make me scream his name', I would have laughed in your face. But now I don't know what my future holds for me further.

With no interest to lay down, I thought about going for a run. This might help me to clear my mind, even for a little while. I stripped my pajamas and put on a high waisted yoga pants which accurately hit above my angle. And quickly rummaged through my closet for a plain black sports bra and put on a low-cut tank top showing off my sports bra underneath. And finally wore my hair into a high pony tail securing it tightly with a black rubber band. But I knew better, it was definitely going to be chilly outside. So, I took a small back pack and packed an oversized hoodie and a water bottle. I finally completed my look with a Nike shoes. I was finally happy that I was able to prepare all the necessities. I grabbed my phone and AirPods and stepped out of my room.

When I stepped out of my room, I saw Katie and Hayley's room light. But considering it was only five past nine, I knew they wouldn't have slept. I was contemplating on whether to speak with Hayley or not. But I knew better that not to ignore her. So, I made my way to their room and knocked on the door. After a couple of seconds, the door opened revealing Katie in her short shorts and a long plain t-shirt.

"Is Hayley inside?" I asked timidly.

"No, she said she was going to spend the night with her new friend she got, who apparently invited her." Katie spoke turning her back and making her way to bed indicating me to come in.

I made my way into their room and stopped midway not willing to go further, it's not like I was never been in their room. But I felt strange now. "Oh! Its okay, just wanted to speak with her."

"She will come by morning. And what is the matter with you. Where are you going this late?" Katie asked motioning her hands towards my attire.

"Just wanted to have a good run" Amelia exclaimed.

"You guys are acting really weird today. Fine, be safe. Bye." Katie said giving a flying kiss towards me. Which made me smile, it was Katie's go to goodbye signal. I was sure of one thing that Hayley didn't tell anything to Katie about the earlier incident, which I was very happy for. But I need to talk to her first thing in the morning.

I decided to walk to the lake which was less than 15 minutes from my dorm. The place itself was well lit, and there was street light every seven meters. When I reached the nearby bench to tie my shoe lace, I can't help but view the beautiful scenery before me. There were people all around the lake. Couples sitting in secluded benches. And elderly couples trying to help each other walk. And dogs barking and chasing squirrels while walking with their owners. And young people running around the lake in the concrete road. I was glad that I came out, it really did keep my mind out of everything.

I secured my bag around my shoulders and made my way to the concrete pavement to run. I calculated that it would take 20 minutes for me to do one lapse around the lake and I mentally appreciated when my body agreed on two lapses.

After many songs and high breathing, I halted. I could see that there were only few people around. I glanced at my watch and it was nearly half past ten, I didn't notice that I was running for nearly an hour. I sat on a bench near a tree, where a Samoyed was tied on the arm rest. I carefully noticed my surroundings and saw there was no one near that puppy. It was really cute and fluffy, I nearly wanted to snatch it and run but decided against it. I was on the rear end to where it was tied but its collar was long enough to come near me. I took my water bottle out of my back pack, and place my bag near me and drank a huge gulp of water to satisfy my thirst. When I recapped the bottle, the puppy was near my leg and was wiggling its tail. I wanted to give it some water but I did not know if I was supposed to. But I caved in and poured some of my left-over water in my bottle's cap and placed it in the middle of my hand and carefully brought it down to the dog's mouth. When the puppy was about to drink it, I got started by a all too familiar voice.
