I eventually got to my house and took a deep breath in and out before I walked in the door.

As soon as I walked in, There he was in all his glory. My dad. I'm immediately shoved against the wall with a hand to my neck.

I reacted quickly and kicked my dad in the balls. He responded by slapping me in the face which unfortunately it was too late for me to block.

Half of my face was stinging now but I tried my best to put a brave face on and ignore it. My dad eventually calmed down so I could escape and run upstairs to my room.

Aisha then texted me.

Aisha: omg! did u see what happened after u left the cafe today??!!

me: no, what happened?

Aisha: the new boy miguel ive been doing karate with totally kicked kylers ass for harassing sam!

me: wow. impressive. and sam the popular rich girl who's friends with that bitch yasmine?

aisha: yeah but she's different from them. also i heard kyler got his ass kicked after school today too! not sure who it was but everyone's talking abt it!

me: oh, that's cool ig. where are u doing karate?

aisha: it's called cobra kai. it's totally badass! u should so come there. even tho u already know how to kick ass lol. 😂 besides sensei lawrence is looking for new recruits

me: idk i'll think abt it. things still aren't good with my dad so idk how i would pay for it.

aisha: i'm sure we could figure something out. and ur welcome to come stay at my place anytime! just plz don't get ur self too hurt ok?

me: i've been living with him my whole life. i can handle him.
