Nami's POV:
As soon as I got home, I ran to my room, looking for the box of letters. My heart sank when I opened the closet door to see it not in it's spot. I ran downstairs and asked my dad if he had seen any box that looked like it. "Oh, I see how it is, not even a hi dad or a why are you home early?" He said. "Dad, look, I just need it okay, mom gave it to me and it's really important." I panicked. "Well sorry kiddo, I haven't seen it. Maybe it went out with the goodwill boxes" My dad said. "The goodwill boxes?" She panicked even more.
"Oh, you got some mail." My dad said as he pointed to an envelope on the counter." I picked it up and realized it must be a response to one of the letters. I stormed off to my room to read it, not wanting to but knowing I had to know what it said.
No one's pov:
While Nami stormed off to her room Yifan sat on the couch nervously. "What's wrong with her?" Their dad asked. "Probably just on her period or something." Yifan lied.
Nami's POV:
I paced back and forth in my room, biting at my nails and debating on opening the letter as I thought to myself. "Well Nami, the letters are out, nothing you can do about it.." she thought to herself. "Well at least Hendery's would be mailed to the camp we went to as kids so he wouldn't get the letter." She thought. At least that's one down. "You really need to relax..I know you love me." Ten said from her chair in the corner which she forgot he was even there for a moment. "Loved, past tense, you're Amber's." She said, making him frown.
He started reading the cringey letter she wrote, making her almost sick. "Shut up...you're not real." The whole time she had just imagined him there and what he would even say but she couldn't dare face him in real life. She looked out the window to see him walking outside, the real him. "I'm more real to you than he is." He said. Suddenly I heard Yifan's voice from the doorway, startling me. "What are you doing?" She said. "Nothing" I said. "Nami! Ten's here." I heard my dad call from downstairs, making me panic even more, why did he have to come over.
"You never saw me." I said. I snuck out onto the roof and rolled off, hurtinf myself but I got up anyways and got on my bike, riding away as fast as I could until I got to the cafe. I parked my bike outside and went in to get a cherry coke. I struggled to open the straw paper but eventually got it and chugged the coke in frustration. "Uh.." I heard that deep voice and saw Sicheng sitting a few seats down from me, looking right at me. "Anything for your friend?" The waitress said. "No, he's not with me." I said quickly. "I'll have a chocolate milkshake please." He said.
"So..why are you here?" I said awkwardly. "What do you mean? I'm just here for one of those chocolate shakes." He said. "Cool." I said, not knowing how to continue this conversation. "Actually, I went by your house and your sister said that you'd be here.. look, I just want to be super clear.. I'm flattered but.. Elkie and I.. just broke up so.." he said. "Are you trying to reject me right now?" I said. "Well yeah..cause it didn't really seem like it took right the first time." He said.
"Dong Sicheng, I'm not trying to date you." I said. "Well your mouth is saying something but then your mouth said something completely different." He said. "What?" I said, confused. Suddenly the waitress walked up and handed Sicheng his milkshake. "Thank you..Jisoo." he said as he looked at her nametag. She looked at us like she was shipping it or something as she walked off. Suddenly the atmosphere became even more awkward so I decided to clear things up.
"Okay so..here's the thing.. I don't actually like you, I just had to make it look like I liked you so somebody else wouldn't think I liked them." I said. "Oh, okay..so who?" He said. "What?" I gave him a confused look again. "You gotta tell me who this mystery guy is otherwise I'm just gonna go on thinking that you have some obsession with me...or should I just go tell the whole school that you wrote me a love letter?" He said. "Okay, no..um..it's Ten Chittaphon." I said.
"Wait, Chittaphon? Doesn't that guy date your sister?" He said. "Well, yeah..he dated my sister in the past tense and he also got a letter so you can see how awkward and complicated that one will get if he ever thinks that I actually like him." I said. "Wait wait, hold on..stop stop stop..I am not the only guy that got a letter? Wow..you really think that you're special until you find out she wrote letters to two guys.." he said. "Well, I wrote seven letters so..don't go feeling too special." I said.
"You wrote five letters?" He said. "Yeah.." I became more nervous as I thought of all of it again. "Damn..you're a player..who else did you write letters to?" He said. "If I tell you, will you leave me alone?" I said as I looked at him. "Yeah..maybe.." he said in a light voice. "Okay.. Lucas Wong.." I said first. "He's got a girlfriend.." He said. "You don't know that." I said jokingly. "Everyone knows that." He said, making me feel awkward. "Who else?" He said. "Someone I went to camp with.. Huang Hendery..Qian Kun..Liu YangYang.. Xiao De Jun.." I said. "Oh.." was all he said.
"Are we good here?" I said, really wanting to leave as I grabbed my bag. "Uh..yeah..we're good." He said. "Okay, great." I said as I stood up. "Wait wait wait..is that sparkly bike out front your ride?" He said. "Yeah.." I nodded. Next thing I knew this man was driving me home.
