Nami's POV:
I saw a boy I hadn't seen since elementary school standing in front of me. A boy I also use to have a crush on. "Can you help me figure out where the gym teacher is?" He said. I looked him in the eyes not knowing what to say. "Lucas?" Was all I could say, confusing him. "You know me?" He said. "Yes, we went to elementary together, I didn't know you moved back to town." I said. "Wait a minute, Nami? Is that you?" He said, smiling. "Yes, it is." I said, not really knowing what else to say. He hugged me tightly, shocking me. "Still no boundaries like the old days huh?" I joked.
"Still uptight like the old days huh?" He said. I slapped his shoulder and rolled my eyes. "I'm joking." He laughed it off. "Yeah you better or I will kick your ass." I said. "I know you would." He said, laughing slightly as he smiled. "Well it was nice seeing you again, I should probably go talk to the coach." He said, walking down the hill to the field. Well that was awkward, I thought to myself. I shrugged and started reading my book. Class went by quickly and I went to wait for my dad to give me keys to his old car he was giving me. I had just gotten my license and I wasn't exactly the best driver.
This year I had to start driving because Amber wouldn't be able to drive me and Yifan to our schools anymore. Oh, did I forget to mention that Amber was a year older than Ten and I so she was going off to college tomorrow morning. Yeah, it was going to be a big change for all of us. Especially Ten, he wanted to make things work with Amber even though she would be far away. My dad eventually showed up and dropped the car off so I could practice driving. He had a friend ride behind him so he could go to a business thing.
I thanked him and waited for Yifan to get off her bus at the highschool so she could come home with me instead of having to ride on that bus to hell all the way home everyday, also my dad was kind of making me. As her bus pulled up, I saw Xiaojun glance at me as YangYang pulled him along. "What was all of that about?" I heard Yifan's voice snapping me out of it. I hadn't even noticed she was standing in front of me. "Huh? What was what?" I said. "I saw that guy looking at you, I think he likes youuu." She teased.
"Oh, shut up, no he doesn't." I said, rolling my eyes. "And you were looking back at him, you like him too!" She said loudly. "Yifan, be quiet." I said. Xiaojun smiled at me, making me realize he had just heard her say that. I face palmed and grabbed her hand, as she kept talking. "Yifan, if you shut up right now, I will get you ice cream." I said. She shut up right away as we got in the car. Ice cream always shut her up, dad and Amber always used the same trick too.
I took a deep breath and turned the car on before changing the gear to drive, becoming nervous as I really hadn't drove much and kind of lied on my hours of practice just to get a license to say I had one. "So are we not going to talk about that boy tho-" Yifan started to say as I pulled forward the moment someone walked through. I slammed on the breaks as Yifan screamed. The book looked at us and I quickly noticed who it was. One of the most popular boys in school, known for his traditonal chinese dance and his handsome features, it was Sicheng.
I had had a crush on him as well back in the day when we hung out with the same people. But I was well over that now since all of the girls at school drooled over him all the time, it was really annoying. He walked up to my window and tapped on it lightly. I put myself together and rolled it down slowly as I smiled at him. "Hiiii" I said, trying to act as if I hadn't almost hit him with my car. "Hi" he said. I sat in silence, feeling awkward. "You know, usually people check where they are going before they put it in drive to avoid running someone over." He said, but not in a rude tone at all and that smile of his made me not even want to look at him.
"Yeah.." I said. "Are you sure you're going to make it out of the parking lot?" He said, actually kind of concerned. "Yeah, we're fine, thanks..you should umm..you should go now." I said, gripping rhe wheel even tighter. "Okay, well it was nice seeing you then Nami..I guess and you too Yifan.." He said with a half wave before walking away. I didn't even look at Yifan, knowing she was about to ask me about it. "Who was that?" She smirked. "Dong Sicheng." I said awkwardly.
"Really?! The Dong Sicheng? The boy you use to be friends with? No wonder he knew my name." She said. "Yep." Was all I could manage to say. "He is very handsome still, even more so now. Why can't you get a handsome boyfriend like him?" She said. "Yifan!" I said and she laughed at me and smirked again. I rolled my eyes and began my drive home, ready for our last night to spend with Amber before she had to leave.
