As Aaliyah, Dre and the kids were getting ready to go, Carmen pulled Aaliyah to the side.

"I need to talk to you about something", Carmen said.

"What's up?", Aaliyah asked.

"I know that you have a lot going on and my problems are the last thing that you wanna hear but...Jada found a ring in Daniel's room", Carmen said.

"She did?", Aaliyah asked.

"Yea and well...it was supposed to be for me", Carmen said.

Aaliyah didn't say anything.

"You don't seem surprised", Carmen said.

"...when you guys were dating, he talked about it with Dre. Dre told me", Aaliyah said.

Carmen looked down. "I didn't know that", she said.

"...what are you thinking?", Aaliyah asked.

"I don't know what to think", Carmen said. "I don't know"

"You guys didn't end well...both times...don't let that ring make you change your decision. How was your date? You guys still talking?", Aaliyah asked.

"Yea. We're doing better than I thought. I'm still trying to figure him out, but it's so far so good", Carmen said.

"Well focus on him. Dont focus on Daniel or the ring. You might miss out on something good if you worry about the past too much", Aaliyah said. "Besides, you've changed your life around, do go back to that lifestyle"

"You're right",Carmen said.

Aaliyah hugged Carmen. "I will talk to you when I get home", Aaliyah said.

"Okay", Carmen said.

Aaliyah pulled away and then walked to the car.

"Ready?", Dre asked.

"Yea", Aaliyah replied.

Aaliyah and Dre got in the car. The twins were already in the back seat.

"So...I think it's time you guys knew some things so you guys can see why your father was so angry with you guys so today", Aaliyah said.

Dre made a face.

"You guys??", Andrea question. "More like me"

"He yelled at me too", Adrienne said.

"Did he say that he'd turn your back on you?", Andrea asked.

"No", Adrienne replied.

"I didn't say that to you either, Andrea", Dre said.

"Guys please. Just hush", Aaliyah said.

"Sorry", Andrea said.

"Remember how we said that your dad and I met through his friend?", Aaliyah asked.

"Yea", the twins said.

"Well I didn't even know his friend and he was in the back seat of my car with a gun", Aaliyah said.

"Hey", Dre said. "I don't think that was necessary"

"Well it's true and they're older now", Aaliyah said. "Anyways your dad had him take me your dad and your dad asked me to do the same thing that boy asked y'all . That's how I met your dad"
