Chapter 35

When Aaliyah and girls got to ATL, they went straight to Jay's house.

"Hey sis", Jay said as he hugged her.

"Hey", Aaliyah said as she hugged him tight.

"Damn. You okay?", Jay asked.

Aaliyah pulled away.

"Yea. I just haven't seen you in so long. I've missed you", Aaliyah said.

Jay looked at Aaliyah as he nodded. He knew something was up.

"Unc!", Adrienne said as she walked into the house.

"We'll talk later", Jay whispered to Aaliyah.

Jay went to hug Adrienne and Andrea.

"How are my most favorite nieces? Wait, where's Jada?", Jay asked.

"With her dad", Adrienne said.

"And where is your dad?", Jay asked.

"I guess he's home", Adrienne said.

Jay looked at Andrea.

"You good? It's not Adrienne to do all of the talking", Jay asked.

Aaliyah changed the subject.

"Jay, where are the girls?", Aaliyah asked.

"Which their mom, having another mother and daughter weekend and blowing up my credit card", Jay said.

Aaliyah chuckled.

"You know mom, we should do that again", Adrienne said.

"Yea we should", Aaliyah said.

"Why don't y'all chill for a moment while I talk to your mom", Jay said.

"Do you have food?", Adrienne asked.

"Help yourself", Jay said.

"Don't mind if I do", Adrienne replied.

Aaliyah and Jay walked outside.

"You know, you're starting to be like Carmen and only come to me when you need something", Jay said.

"Hey, I've been calling you", Aaliyah said.

"Yea but you haven't visited", Jay said. "Especially without your other half"

"I don't wanna talk about him right now", Aaliyah said.

"What did he do?", Jay asked.

"Nothing...but we're getting a divorce and I thought I could come here and get my mind off of things and spend time with you", Aaliyah said.

"Divorce? He wants that? Or you?", Jay asked.

"Me", Aaliyah replied.

"...it must be something bad if you wanna do that", Jay said.

"Yea...it is", Aaliyah said.

"I'm here for you alright?", Jay said.

Aaliyah nods.

"Go ahead and go inside. I know you had a long plan ride", he said. "I'm about to call Kara and the girls"

"That, I did", she replied as she walked back into the house.

Jay pulled out his phone and called Dre instead. It took Dre a while to answer but eventually he did.

"Hello?", Dre said.

"What's up", Jay asked.

"I honestly don't know", Dre said. "Too much shit"

"I hear a divorce is one", Jay said.

"Damn. She told you?", Dre asked.

"Yea. Why wouldn't she?", Jay asked.

"...it's just that if she told you then she meant it", Dre said.

"What happened with y'all?", Jay asked.

"As far as I'm concerned, nothing. I mean like nothing for her to want a divorce", Dre said.

Aaliyah came outside.

"Hey, Jay. I'm going to go to thetas station real quick", Aaliyah said.

"Alright", Jay replied.

"alright what?", Dre asked.

"I was talking to Aaliyah", Jay replied.

"Aaliyah?", Dre asked.

He waited for Aaliyah to get into the car to talk again.

"Yea. She came to ATL", Jay said.

Dre didn't say anything.

"Well if it's all of sudden like you say it is, then it's something behind all of this", Jay said.

"The kids there?", Dre asked.

"Yea", Jay replied. "Wait you didn't know they were coming here?"

"They're supposed to be in New York", Dre said.

"Well she's here", Jay replied.

"Alright", Dre said

"I ain't mean to start nothing bruh. I thought you knew she was coming her, so don't tell her I told you", Jay said. "I just wanted to know what happened between y'all"

"...within the last month, almost two, things have been chaotic. Jada ran away, Andrea got...got kidnapped, and Aaliyah was kidnapped and tortured because I killed the boy who got Andrea kidnapped", Dre said.

"When was I going to be own about this?", Jay asked.

"You don't leave that type of life anymore. You got a family and I didn't want you to get put into this", Dre said. "Besides, by the time I knew she was kidnapped, she was back within a few hours"

"But that's sister man", Jay said.

"And she's my wife. She's my responsibility now..or was", Dre said.

Jay shook his head.

"All of that being said...everything put a strain on our relationship. I don't know, it's like a cycle with us. Our relationship goes for chaotic then good, then back to chaotic", Dre said.

"But you guys have been great for the pass 18 years. Better than I have ever seen y'all", Jay said.

"Yea...but now that's not the case. Now, we are on the edge of getting a divorce and I honestly don't know what to do", Dre said.

"Try to fix it", Jay said.

"Yea. That's what I do all of the time but if I have to try and fix it multiple times then I guess it's just sign that I'm just supposed to be alone because if we get a divorce than I honestly don't want anybody else. Nobody will understand me like she does", Dre said.

"Maybe I can help", Jay said.

"Nah. Don't worry about it man. If she wants to do it, she'll do it. If she doesn't, she won't. Maybe she's just having a depressive episode or maybe this is her true feelings. I don't know. I just know that if it happens then it's meant to be", Dre said.

"...it sounds like your done yourself", Jay said.

"Nah. It's just that right now I feel like I got a hole my heart to even hear her say that word and then she even told you...I just don't have the energy right now. I'll talk to you later. Just keep an eye on her for me", Dre said.

"Alright", Jay said. "I'll keep update"

"Iight, bye", Dre said before he hung up.

Jay looked at his phone and then put his arm to his side and shook his head.
