A wolf pup followed her mother and sister up the rocks.
She had very light pink fur and blue eyes, unlike her mother and sister, who were brown and white. She may have looked different than them, but they were her family and nothing could change that. Today, her mother was going to show her and her sister something seemingly very important.
Mother reached what appeared to be some sort of strange boulder sticking out of the rocks. It looked rather unnatural. But when she pushed it aside, the tunnel inside glowed a strange blue light.
"Come," she said. She stepped inside, her two pups following. They were standing in front of three wolves. The middle one, the tallest, looked native to the Fire Tribe, their home, but the two shorter ones that stood on either side of him looked as if they were from somewhere else, like a different tribe? But the strangest thing was, sitting beside the wolves, was a strange blue portal, which was obviously the source of the strange blue light. Little sparkles came from the portal.

"This is something I wanted to show you for a long time," their mother said

"This is something I wanted to show you for a long time," their mother said. "This portal leads to a forbidden land, and only the chosen wolf can enter. My mother came through this portal...but she never came back,"
"Wow," said the sister.
"Do you think Grandma was the chosen wolf?" asked the pink pup.
"I don't...know..." said Mother.
Mother looked at the tallest wolf. "Hello,"
"Hello," he said.
"What is this?" she asked.
"A secret club," he said. "Us three are from the different tribes. I'm from the Fire Tribe, Marshmallow here is from the Summer Tribe," he pointed his nose at the white wolf on his left, "And Sparky is from the Wild Tribe," he pointed to the wolf on his right.
The pups had no idea what any of that meant.
Mother hesitated. "....what do I do with this?" she pointed her nose at the portal.
The middle wolf hesitated, then shrugged. "I don't know, bring some friends here to look at the beautiful sparkles?" But it sounded suspicious as he said this.
"That's weird," said Mother. "He says it's just a light show....but I know it's something more..."
Suddenly there was a loud boom coming from outside, and the sounds of clearing trees, followed by howling and yelping.
Mother's ears flattened at the sound. "Quick, pups, come with me," she grabbed Sister and put her on her back, then grabbed the pink pup in her mouth. She raced out of the cave and to a farther side of the beach.
Behind them, fire crackling- trees were on fire. This sometimes happened because of the volcano in the center of their island, but it couldn't have been the volcano, it hadn't erupted in years and if it had, there'd be lava everywhere.
There was snarling behind them.
Mother ran, carrying her pups. Behind them, there was growling and snarling. Wolves were chasing them. They didn't look, or smell, native to here. They looked a lot like Sparky, the wolf they saw in the cave.
Wild Tribe raiders. The territory was under attack.
As Mother ran, she stepped in a hole and twisted her ankle. She fell down, dropping both pups. She wanted to get back up and run to safety, but with her sore ankle, she couldn't.
But it was the pups she really wanted to keep safe, not herself.
The snarling wolves were getting closer.
"Go! Now!" she yelled.
"But mother, I don't want to leave you," the pink pup whimpered. She nuzzled her mom.
"Now, Lily! Take your sister with you. Past those rocks, to the edge of the land towards the ocean, take a raft, and ride it to a safe land,"
Lily wanted to cry. She didn't want to leave Mom. But she always had to do as she was told.
She and her sister ran away, leaving their mother behind. If Lily looked back, she could only see a bunch of wolves chasing her and her sister, but she could no longer see her mother. Mother had been swallowed by the angry mob.
The pups ran up the rocks, little pebbles flying as they climbed higher and higher. When they reached the top, they saw a raft, made of logs and woven together by ropes, laying at the edge. It was tied to a stick that stuck out of the ground by a rope so that it could not drift away.
The pups skidded down the rocks, the snarling getting louder. They ran to the raft, hopped on, and Lily bit the rope. The raft slowly drifted away from the island. The angry pack of wolves reached the edge of the land by then, but just stood there, snarling. However, their cold eyes glared at Lily, as if they were saying "we will be back..."
The days and nights out on the ocean were harsh. Lily had no idea how long she'd been on that raft, or where exactly she was going, but at one point, during a harsh storm, her sister fell overboard. She couldn't save her, or else she'd risk her own life. And she wanted to stay alive, for Mother, and for Sister.
It was a long trip. She held onto her belief as she drifted through the ocean, that maybe she'd find land. But she was just about to give up when she saw a strip of land, and she hadn't remembered the last time she'd seen one of those.
