Old Man Baloney was showing Dallas Pringle how to fletch arrows while also showing Dawn how to reload shotgun shells. Scott and Jack were outside, watching and listening for the Bloodlusters. They picked up on bits of conversation between some of the vampire bikers. "Sounds to me like Baalseth's heading south," Jack said, "toward Smith Rock. If he gets there, that's bad news for everybody."

"And that's why we have to figure a way to get out of here and down there," Scott said. "But we're still surrounded by Bloodlusters."

"Yeah, and something tells me they ain't staying down on the highway for too long. They're just sweating us for now. Damn. I hate that shit."

"It's no fun when it's done to you, is it?"

"Hell no."

"It kind of goes with the territory when you're one of the good guys."

"I have limited experience with that. Guess you're never too old to start learning, huh?"

Scott laughed. "I guess not." Scott's laughter was short-lived when an aroma caught his nose. He sniffed the air. "You smell that, Jack?"

"Yeah. That's gas on fire. Look, toward the highway."

Small flashes of light popped up along the highway. They would probably not have been easy to notice by mortals at that distance, as the flashes were rather small, but the vampires quickly picked up on them. "Looks like they're lighting something."

"Some things, Scott. Smell of gas? Scott, they're making Molotov cocktails."

"Oh, shit. We've got to get back to the trailer and warn them."

"Then what are we gonna do, Scott?"

"Well, if I recall correctly, we've got a few little goodies of our own. How's your throwing arm, Jack?"

"Are you kidding? I could whip Cy Young's ass. That's a little before your time."

"Well, then, let's get ready. I think they're coming back."

Scott and Jack rushed back to the trailer. "They're coming!" Scott cried. "And this time, they're bringing a bit of heat. Dawn, where is that dynamite?"

Dallas pointed toward a box on an accent table in the living room. "Right there, along with some grenades," He said.

"I'll get out on the roof with the bow again," Dawn said. "Can I get a couple of those dynamite sticks? I'm going to tie them to the arrows and send a couple explosive surprises their way."

Scott gave Dawn the thumbs-up. "Ah! Just like The Dukes of Hazzard!"

"If you call me 'Daisy Duke', I'll lock you up in the bloodlust room when we get home."

"Is that a promise?"

Jack looked at the old man and Dallas. "Do any of the rest of you find their flirtations annoying?"

Both of them nodded their heads. "It certainly is," Dallas said, "I've just been too terrified to vomit."

"Okay, so it's not just me? Good."

The roar of the Harleys soon became obvious even to the mortals. Dawn took her position on the roof while Jack and Scott stood on opposite sides of the trailer. Dallas and Old Man Baloney remained inside the trailer, gripping their shotguns. Scott nodded to Jack. Jack's response was to put a cigarette in his mouth and light it. "Smoke 'em if you got 'em," he said.
