The Prom Experience

[can I just clarify Nico is NOT going to prom as he is not in their year ok thnx]

I wriggled around awkwardly in my tie, adjusting it, trying to get as comfortable as I could.

Leo and I were in my room getting changed for prom, and Nico was sitting on my bed texting, occasionally commenting.

"Can we pick up Agnes on the way?" Leo asked as he pulled on his socks and slipped on a pair of shoes.

"course!" I smiled, patting him on the back.

there was a knock at the door and I heard Piper's voice. "we're ready! come meet us in the living room."

"okay!" I called back, ruffling up my hair a little.

We left the room and made our way down the hall to the living room. When I saw Annabeth I struggled to speak the words to describe how breathtakingly beautiful she looked. She wore a long dark turquoise dress that clung to her body and displayed her curves perfectly. It was strapless, and the upper half was speckled with sequins. Her hair was curled more than usual, and fell around her shoulders in a somewhat waterfall-like way. Honest to her usual look, she wasn't wearing a lot of makeup, but I wouldn't have minded if she had. She always looked beautiful whatever she did.

"Annabeth," I said breathlessly, giving her a wide smile. "you look flawless."

She smiled back at him, a big genuine smile, and I couldn't hold back the urge to kiss her any longer. I ran forward and wrapped my arms around her, giving her a gentle kiss on the lips. "I can't express how beautiful you look. I mean, you always look beautiful-"

Annabeth silenced my mumbling by giving me another quick kiss. Leo and Piper were chatting in the corner, and Piper seemed upset.

Piper also looked stunning in a just above the knee deep purple dress that puffed out from the waist.

"What's wrong?" I asked, holding Annabeth's hand and walking over to them.

"I had an iris message from Jason a few days ago saying he'd be here for prom." Piper sniffed, looking at the ground.

Annabeth leaned forward and hugged her tightly. "with or without Jason, I'm sure you'll have a great time tonight, and we'll see him soon."

Suddenly, Clarisse entered. Percy stared wide eyes as she emerged wearing a long black backless dress. A dress. Everyone stared in awe.

"What?" She snapped.

"You look great!" Annabeth finally spoke.

Clarisse flashed somewhat of a smile. "Thanks."

"You ready to go?" Nico called from the end of the corridor. They all double checked they had everything and joined Nico and the elevator.

The school hall was dimly light with flashing lights of bright colours that shone down on the moving crowd. A band was playing some kind of pop music on a stage at the front and most people were dancing.

Anyone who wasn't dancing was chatting or getting food from the buffet table, a place Leo dragged Agnes to as soon as they entered the building.

"Wanna dance Wisegirl?" I smirked, nodding towards the crowd.

"You? Dance?" She scoffed.

"Yeah!" I said, mildly offended.

"Okay." She smiled, taking my hand and leading me into the crowd. As if Aphrodite herself had rigged it, as soon as we merged into the crowd, a slow song started playing.

"Oh, great." I sighed.

"Hey, it'll be fun."

Annabeth draped her arms over my shoulders, indicating that I should put my hands on her waist. We stood there as the song played, a gentle melody that we could easily sway to. She leaned her head against the side of mine, her lips brushing my cheek. It felt good to have a moment of peace, even if we weren't alone, it didn't seem like anyone else existed.

The song finished and the band went back to a pop punk like song.

"Should we get some punch?" I suggested to which Annabeth nodded.

At the buffet table we caught sight of Agnes and Leo making out, looking like they might eat each others faces off.

"Wow," Annabeth said as we both stared at them. "Good for him, I guess."

"Hey, where's Piper?" I asked as I poured myself some punch. "I hope she's not alone."

"Talking about me?" I nearly spilt my punch all over my suit as Piper suddenly appeared, making me jump.

"Yeah actually." Annabeth chuckled at my surprised reaction. "you okay?" she put a hand on Piper's shoulder comfortingly.

"I guess, it's just not the same, you know? I-"

The three of them turned around suddenly as the doors to the gym hall flew open with a loud bang, even Agnes and Leo.

A figure stood in the doorway, covered in shadows because of the dark corridor. Looking out of breath, a familiar blonde stepped into the light, searching the crowd desperately.

"Jason?" Piper gasped as a whisper at first. Snapping out of her shock she called his name louder, causing him to find her.

You know in those romantic films where the couple run to each other in slow motion? It was something like that.

The pair collided and stood there hugging, clinging on to each other for what seemed like hours. Students around them clapped and cheered, even though they didn't really know what had happened.

"That's so cute." Annabeth sighed.

"Hey," I pouted. "I'm cute."

"You're adorable." She rolled her eyes and pulled my lips to hers.

SO SECOND TO LAST CHAPTER WOO !!!! it's nearly over and I can't believe it???? I started this book like 2 years ago HOLY COW

thank you for sticking by this book, and for giving it SO many reads, I'm fairly sure it's the 3rd most read Percabeth book on wattpad??? that's CRAZY
