| Annabeth Chase |

"Annabeth Chase to the Head's office. Annabeth Chase to the Head's office." Repeated the speaker in the corner of my history class. I didn't acknowledge it until Piper shook my shoulder next to me.

"Hm?" I shook myself out of my daze. It was so abnormal for me to have little-to-no concentration, but my mind was all over the place at the moment. I was barely in the right mindset to even stand up. My world was crumbling.

"You've been called to the Principal's office." she said and gave a sympathetic smile.

Why was I being called there? I never got in trouble, and me and Bridgette Fletcher hadn't had an argument in, like, a month. Maybe it was a praise? I pulled myself out of my seat and slipped my bag over my shoulder. The Principal's office was practically on the other side of the school. When I arrived, there were several kids sitting on plastic chairs outside. One of which was Max.

He hadn't noticed me yet, so I turned my back to him, and sat on the furthest chair from him. After 10 minutes of fiddling with my thumbs, a man with reducing grey hair popped his head out of the door and let a short girl with crazy green hair walk out.

"Annabelle Chase?" He called, causing Max to sit up to attention and finally find my gaze, realizing I was there.

"Annabeth." I muttered, and rushed into the office. It was a reasonably large room, very neat, with everything packed away to filed draws. In the middle there was a smooth wooden desk with a bunch of folders and a laptop.

The Principal took his seat behind the desk, and I took one opposite. "So, Annabelle," He began.

"Annabeth." I corrected, again.

"Ah, oh, sorry, sorry. So, Annabeth, I hope you know why you've been called to the office?" He crossed his arms and stared at me, awaiting a response. I sat, completely dumbfounded. Did I know?

"No, I don't, sorry."

"Well, that's a shame Miss Chase, because you're here about something very, very serious. Just this afternoon, we received video footage of you participating in vandalism. It seems you set a shed on fire on the schools ground, potentially endangering the lives of any students nearby."

Suddenly, I felt sick, and my head spun violently. What?

"We are almost certain it's you, as you never attended the class you had that period.

Crap, I cursed myself. 3rd period I had ditched class, with Piper, because honestly, I wasn't emotionally okay, I was still distressed about what i'd seen. We'd avoided teachers by sitting in the girls toilets, while Piper comforted me.

"No, Sir, I swear it wasn't me! Yes, admittedly, I did skip 3rd period, but I never set anything on fire!" I cried, knowing I was fighting a losing battle if there was evidence against me.

"Please calm down, Miss Chase. Look, we can show you the evidence." He turned the laptop around, and pressed play on a video. I watched in horror as a girl with blonde hair and a Yankees cap, identical to mine, poured gasoline all over a shed, then set it alight. Then, she looked up at the security camera, which wasn't clear enough to make out all facial features.

"That's not me! Please Sir, I swear it, I would never-"

"No one else in the school has the exact same hat, so it could only be you. I'm sorry, but unless you can prove your innocence before prom in a week, I'm going to have to expel you."

Expelled?! My chest suddenly felt heavy and breathing became harder. With that on my school record, I'd never be able to get into the Universities I wanted to go to, and it'd taint my reputation for possibly, forever.

"I hope you understand the importance of this situation, and I do regret having to expel our most intelligent pupil. I am sorry, Annabeth."

The Principal looked at me with an empty smile, and escorted me out of his office. Max had mysteriously disappeared, thank the Gods. How could I go back to class after that? Everything I had maintained for so long was slipping away, and was leaving me grasping for a handle in thin air.

Desperately, I ran into the girls toilets and pushed myself into a cubicle, giving up, and letting the tears stream down my face freely. The tears came, but nothing came out my throat - It felt raw and dry.

Knock, knock, knock. Someone was outside my cubicle.

"Annabeth?" called the voice of Piper McLean. "Annabeth, let me in? What happened?" Slowly, I unlocked the door, and stepped out.

"Holy crap, Annabeth, you look bad." She passed me a tissue from her pocket, and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "You gonna tell me what happened?"
