The next day, Kenma woke up before Kuroo. He yawned and looked over at the sleeping boy. He looked so peaceful. Kenma thought about taking two frying pans and banging them together to wake him up, but he decided he'd be nice, and let him sleep a little longer. He stood up and walked into his bathroom. He looked into the mirror that hung above his sink. He just stood there, staring at himself. His hair, his cat-like eyes, his small frame, his tiny nose, even his prominent collar bones. He wished he was good enough for someone. Someone like Kuroo. He turned on the sink and splashed his face with the cold, refreshing water. As he looked up, panting, he saw Kuroo, standing in the doorway, his arms above his head, touching the top of the door frame. Kenma turned around in surprise. "Sorry, I scared you again," Kuroo apoligized. Kenma nodded and looked up at the tall boy who stood infront of him. "Why did you get up so early Kitten?" asked Kuroo looking very concerned. "Oh- no reason, I was just about to brush my teeth," he replied as he grabbed his tooth brush. Kuroo smiled at him, "Okay, well I guess I gotta go back to my place," he said quietly. Kenma nodded, "Your parents probably miss you," he said as he laughed. Kuroo chuckled at that, "Yeah.... I doubt it."

Kuroo's parents weren't bad parents. They just had very, very high standards for their only son, which put a lot of pressure on Kuroo. Kenma knew they were pretty religious, which was fine and all, except... they might not accept Kuroo coming out as gay. Kenma thought about it before asking, "Do you need me to come with you?" Kuroo looked at him with a confused shrug. "Huh? Why?" Kenma shrugged, "Well, if you're going to tell them you're gay, they might.... they might get mad...." Kuroo sighed, "Yeah, you're right... what if they don't accept me?" Kuroo looked even more nervous than before.

Shit....

Kenma tried to calm him down, "Don't worry, it'll be fine," he reassured him. Kuroo took a deep breath, "I hope so...."

After Kenma and Kuroo had finished getting ready, they both walked up to the front door, greeting Kenma's grandmother as they passed. "Bye grandma, see you later," Kenma said as he closed the door behind them. The boys decided Kenma would stay outside of Kuroo's house while he told them. If it went well, he wouldn't come back outside, if it didn't go as planned, he and Kuroo would go back to Kenma's house... permanently. They walked down the busy street, dodging passing cars. As they arrived at Kuroo's house, Kenma gave him a final hug before he walked inside. He looked back at Kenma, giving him a thumbs up, as if he was saying, "Wish me luck!"

Kenma waited outside. He wasn't even the one coming out, but he was just as anxious as ever. What would happen to Kuroo if his parents kicked him out? Kuroo wasn't exactly... close, with his parents, so it wouldn't be that shocking, but still... they were his family. Kenma waited outside for about ten minutes, still nothing. He wondered if Kuroo was still telling them, or if they were yelling at him. He was about to turn around and go home, as he heard a knock on a window. He whipped around and saw Kuroo smiling at him through the window. Kenma had never seen him so happy in his life. He held two thumbs up, smiling so big, his face so rosy and cheerful, tears running down his cheeks.

They had accepted him.

Kenma could feel tears running down his own face. He was so happy for his friend. Kuroo could love whoever he wanted without being judged by his parents. The joy Kuroo showed made Kenma happy as well. His best friend had just done one of the most scary things ever. He wanted to run up and hug Kuroo so badly, but he knew Kuroo would want to spend time with his parents. Kuroo waved at Kenma one last time, before walking away from the window. Kenma gave Kuroo a big smile as he turned around and began to walk back to his house. He knew Kuroo would text him later, so he decided to wait until then.

He entered his house, to find his grandmother, asleep on her chair as normal. He walked over and checked her pulse, making sure she was okay. She was fine, just very tired, he guessed. He tiptoed upstairs and walked into his messy room. He changed into something comfier. He put on a t-shirt and some sweatpants. He went to wash his hands as he looked down at his wrists. The scars were still there. He used to struggle with self-harm, but he had been clean for two years now. He remembered when Kuroo planned a party for him, celebrating a year of being clean. That was a big milestone in Kenma's life. He never thought he'd have to celebrate not hurting himself, but then again, he also didn't think he'd have to attend his mother's funeral at a young age.
