The professor gratefully received the piece of paper from his student, noticing that her nerves had yet to calm - he could only assume that she cared a lot about the work she had done, and made a mental note not to critique her too harshly. It did not occur to him for even a moment that she might be having similar thoughts and feelings to his own - after all, why would she take any interest in a man of his age?

Placing the paper down on the desk, he began to read the first sentence before her request for water caused him to glance up, nodding in response.

"Of course."

Reaching below his desk, the man opened the door to a well concealed mini fridge, producing a small bottle of water, which he offered to Taylor. Then, he returned his attention to her paper, though briefly paused as a thought went through his mind.

"Feel free to use the sofa by the wall if you'd like to get comfortable while I read this," he suggested, hoping to strike a more informal tone that might help her to relax, more than sitting directly opposite him would likely achieve.
