walking alone at night as a girl has never been fun.  constantly looking behind you and wondering if you will make it home.  tonight, my mom sent me to the store to get some milk for her famous mac'n'cheese, so i am on my way back home right now.

as i walked down the dimly lit road, i couldn't help but feel like i was being watched.  i looked behind me to see a tall figure following me.  i looked forward and turned onto a random street, trying to see if they were actually following me or if i was just being paranoid.  about 15 seconds later when i was far enough to see if he had also turned the corner, i looked behind me to see that he was, in fact, still following me.  my heart started beating fast and i could feel the anxiety building up in my chest.  i increased my speed and looked behind me again.  he sped up too.  i'm gonna die.  i started running, hoping that i would see someone come out of their house.  i looked behind me for what felt like the hundredth time to see that the figure had started running to.  i looked back in front of me to see a boy who looked about my age come out of his house.  i ran as fast as i could and eventually arrived at his house.  when i came up to him, it looked like i scared the shit out of him.

"i need help," i said, out of breath, " someone is chasing me and i need help."

he furrowed his eyebrows and looked behind me to see the dark silhouette.

"hey!" his deep voice yelled.  the figure stopped, "why are you following my girlfriend?"

the figure, which i'm assuming is a grown man, turned around and walked away without saying anything.

"thank you.  so much," i breathed out.

"yeah, of course.  what are you doing out here?" he asked.  i looked up at him and realized that he's very attractive.  gorgeous light brown eyes that were glowing in the dim light, dark brown hair, and a jawline so sharp that it could kill.

"i was walking home from the store," i said, holding up the gallon of milk that i was surprised i held on to.

"do you want a ride? i don't really want you out here alone after that," he said.  i hesitated for a few seconds, but then agreed.

"yes.  please."

"so, what's your address?" he asked, buckling up.

"354 linden lane," i replied.  he nodded and pulled out of his driveway.

"so what were you doing? when you came out of your house?" i asked.

"my dad and i got into a fight.  i just needed some air," he replied.  i nodded, then realized, i never got his name.

"hey, i-"

"i'm-"

we both started talking at the same time.  he stopped, looked at me and laughed.

"i'm sorry, go ahead."

"i was just gonna say that i didn't get your name," i said.

"i'm mattia."

"y/n," i replied.

"i would have liked if we got to meet under different circumstances, but this is better than never, right?" he said.  i laughed and nodded.
