That girl is absolutely stunning. She is H-O-T and the British accent makes her that tiny bit more attractive. I've never seen anything like it! I've never had a girlfriend; in fact, I've never even had a real physical attraction to a girl. Nothing like this anyway. Myliey and I met at Berkley's last year, and a few months ago, we were allowed to move in together. I liked her (only a tiny bit) at first, but then after a few weeks I decided that there's nothing too interesting about her and she tends to get on my nerves. A lot.
Ashlyn, however, I can't say the same. She doesn't get on my nerves. I love that girl. Her name is Ashlyn though, right? I want to ask her out but I just really don't know... I've only known her a day. We weren't told who was coming here so I was really hoping for another boy. Now I'm stuck in a house full of three girls! It's not that bad though, especially when you've already fell in love with one of them. I overheard Brooklyn whisper to Ash a couple of days ago, "How do you find Kyron attractive? Ew. Now, I like guys as well as girls but KB is just a big no."
Excuse me, hun. Us New Zealander's 'ain't gonna tolerate that discrimination towards us. Nah, I'm kidding. I don't think I'm that attractive, myself. I know who is though. Ohhhh, Ashlyn. I don't care if Brooke doesn't like me because I'm sure Ash does, and I love Ash, not Brooke. The girls have only been here 6 days, and tomorrow they're coming to Berkley's with us. Myliey and I have shown them around all of the island (the coast and the mainland) and they both seem to be loving it so far.
What I haven't told them though, is that I used to be in foster care myself, coming here was an escape from that and now I'm finally 'free.' Myliey wasn't in foster care; she came from Auckland and decided she wanted to start a new life pursuing a career in criminology. Her parents agreed, let her come here and then went to live back in Colombia, where Myliey's parents are originally from. They moved to New Zealand 5 years before she was born to start a new life, but a few months ago they decided to move back. Come to think of it, I know a lot about Myliey. She's not really the type of girl to keep secrets. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing but I don't really mind it. Personally, I have quite a few secrets, in which I would only share with my best friend. Right now, however, I don't have a best friend. That means no one to exchange secrets with, but Ashlyn could be the one to change that.
It's the morning of the girls' first day at Berkley's. We have to wear a uniform. The girls' uniform consists of a rolled up skirt, a short tie with the top button of their blouse unfastened, grey socks and a black blazer with navy blue lace all around the rim. My uniform is pretty much the same, except with shorts (and pants for the winter).
The girls haven't yet got used to all of the appliances here and I just wanted to be nice, so I made the girls breakfast. It's the only way I can think of on how to attract a girl. As I said, I've never had a girlfriend before, so I don't really know how to get a girl. I make pancakes because, why not? Brooke and Ash come downstairs and they both seem excited for it. I haven't made them breakfast yet, in the time that they've been here, Myliey normally makes it for them, so I'm nervous in case they don't enjoy my pancakes. Ash seems more more excited than Brooke, probably because I told her I was falling in love with her, a few days ago. At least I didn't lie. I'm going to definitely ask her out soon. I just want to make it official, me and her seem like we would really suit but I'm also nervous, in case she says no. I'm just a really nervous person overall, I guess.
The girls take my pancakes and run over to the dining table. When they grabbed them, they seemed really excited and Ashlyn even gave me a little wink. My face lit up a little, even though I tried not to show it. Not long later, the girls bring their plates over and put them in the dishwasher. They say that they enjoyed the pancakes so much and would love it if I could do them for them everyday! My face lights up again, and without thinking, I blow Ashlyn a kiss as she hurries upstairs to get changed. She stops suddenly and blows me one back, along with a cheeky smile. I almost start to cry but then I manage to hold myself together. I'm taken aback by how well that just went. Maybe Ash does love me. It makes me happy to think that she does.
Ashlyn and Brooklyn's first day at Berkley's is a success. Ash stayed with me throughout the whole day, to my surprise. I loved being in her company. She just gives off a presence of cosiness and safety. Ashlyn just being alive makes me happy. Her existence is beautiful, just like her. She tells me that Berkley's is just like Crofley's- somewhere I've never been before. It's strange having partner crime clubs on the other side of the world because apparently in the near future, we'll be going from Berkley's to Crofley's, back to Berkley's and so on. Do you know how expensive it is to send about 50 teenagers from one side of the world to the other, then back again? Let's just say it's a lot. I'm glad that they do do it though, otherwise I would never have met Ashlyn Evanston.
That night, the 4 of us sit on our beautiful balcony. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the sea is a gorgeous colour, glistening in the summer evening's moonlight. Abruptly, we hear Myliey's phone ring. Her phone is on the other side of the table from her, next to me. I'm sat next to Brooklyn and Ash is sat in front of me. I can't stop getting pulled into those hazel-green eyes. Like she said, always fall in love with someone's eyes; they're the only thing that will never change. I answer Myliey's phone and leave the table. I thought that it would probably be from Berkley's. It is, but they tell me something unexpected.
"Hi, um this is Kyron Baristek on Myliey Rosettor's phone. Who am I speaking to?"
"Hi Kyron. This is Berkley's. We have a new arrival for you in 4 days time."
"What do you mean, a new arrival?"
"You're going to be getting a boy joining your house. He's from the UK- Bridgewood- the same place where Ashlyn and Brooklyn came from."
"Di- did you say a boy?"
"Yup, and he's coming on Friday."I pause for a moment and squeal. I've always wanted a boy roommate!
"Omg! What's his name?"
"You can't know that yet. You'll find out in 4 days. Enjoy the rest of your evening, Kyron."
"Wait! How old is h-"
The phone cuts off. Maybe this is all a secretive thing. We can't know anything about him until Friday- it's Monday today. Interesting. I don't know whether to keep it a secret or go and tell the girls. There's just enough room in this house for one other person, and to know it's a boy is incredible! I could be like their little brother or maybe their big brother. I hope they're younger than me. I'm 15 and so is Myliey. They brought Ashlyn and Brooklyn here and they're both 15 too. By that information, I think I can work out that the new arrival will probably be 15 too. Dammit. Wow, brilliant detective skills there, Kyron. *sarcasm*I decide not to tell the girls and leave it as a surprise until Friday. Maybe I'll regret that...
Friday comes around extremely quickly. It's time. The girls are probably gonna go mad at me for not telling them, but it will also be a nice surprise. I receive another phone call (on my phone this time) and a member of the Berkley's staff tells me that they will be arriving at approximately 11 pm tonight, and at least one of us needs to be there to greet him. I decide that I'll definitely do it.
He's here. All of the girls are asleep upstairs when I hear the doorbell ring. This is what I've been waiting for for the last 8 months. I'm so excited. I answer the door and there is a young-looking boy in a red hoodie with some rock band's logo on it that I've never seen before or heard of- it's probably British. I wave and smile but I look so awkward. His Crofley's worker comes inside, puts his stuff down and walks out. He has a bag which holds a guitar and other bags with many random things. I notice that he has a lot more than what Ashlyn and Brooklyn brought- maybe this boy wasn't in foster care like Ash, Brooke and I. In fact, his clothes looked too good for that. He smiles at me, shakes my hand and asks me where his room is. I carefully and quietly take him upstairs, leaving most of his stuff in the living room.
"Hi," he says. "My name is Jamie Corvanze. I'm 13. What's your name?"
"Yes!" I squeal, I think he heard me.
"Everything okay?" He asks, in a state of confusion.
"O-Oh yeah," I nervously laugh. "Everything's fine, I've just always wanted a boy roommate and I've always wanted him to be younger than me. We're gonna be best buds, okay? I'm gonna look after you and protect you from these girls. They're dangerous, haha!"
He throws his hand up to high-5 me and smiles. Him and I are going to get on well, I can feel it.•Kyron•
