"SORRY WHAT?" I scream, trying to hear what Brooke is saying. I can't here anything in here! We're currently all having a party! So I'm sorry that I'm shouting! You can't tell, but I am. Red, yellow and green light beams shine upon me and our homemade dance floor- our living room floor. We're back in New Zealand now and today's my birthday! It was my boyfriend Kyron's 2 days ago and it's Brooke's on Saturday- so today's party is kind of a joint one. A broken leg on my birthday though, ha! How unfortunate. I can still party though, kinda. I decide to waddle out of the living room on my crutches, staring deeply into Kyron's aqua-blue eyes as I leave the room. He blows me a kiss and I blow one back, walking into the kitchen on my crutches to get away from the party I can't really enjoy. At least the kitchen is where the food is.
I pick up a bacon and cheese sandwich up from the table and put my crutches down. Taking a bite of the delicious sandwich Kyron prepared earlier, I sit down in my wheelchair. I picked it up at the local hospital here in NZ- just a backup in case my legs get tired of walking on my crutches. Nurses in the UK said it's a pretty bad break, so they suggested that when I came back here to New Zealand, I would probably need a wheelchair as well as the crutches I already have. "Kyron!" I shout with a mouthful of food, "Can you get me a drink please Ronnie?" Ronnie is my nickname for Kyron. He comes dashing through from the living room dance-floor, the rotating colourful lights shining upon him. "Coming, Ashie!" He shouts, using the nickname he gives me all the time. I love it- I think it's really cute honestly.
He comes into the kitchen and pours me a medium-sized glass of orange juice. "Here Ashie," he says, using the nickname we both agreed on the other day- again. He passes it to me and walks back into the living room. As he does, he says, "I'm sorry about your leg, you and I can have a little alone-time after. I'll dance with you but adapt it with your crutches. I love you, see you later." He smiles and walks off. I love him so much. He'd do anything for me, literally. I've had to sleep downstairs as there's no lift in this house and I can't get up and down the stairs.
I go to wheel myself off into the living room after finishing my orange juice, then I look on the fridge as I leave the kitchen, and see a picture of Kyron on the beach stood on his own. I'm guessing that maybe Myliey took that picture. It catches my eye so I wheel myself back around and up to the fridge. I take it off as it's the only picture on there, and analyse it carefully. It looks like he's near some sort of beach cave, and it looks absolutely beautiful. I'm gonna talk to him about this- I think I want to go once my leg gets better. The cast is supposed to be coming off in around a month's time, and although I've only had it on for a week, I'm so excited. I can finally start my life properly and go to the beach and have other adventures with KB and maybe Brooke. Talking of Brooke, I haven't spoken to her for a while. Oh, that reminds me!
Drama. Brooke broke up with Jamie the last night we were staying in the UK. Then at the airport, Brooke came up to me and held my hand- but she wasn't into any romantic interest with me nor Kyron, which is what Jamie thought. Then, Myliey eyed JC, and he said that he would go out with Myliey. Now those two are together- and Brooke isn't too impressed. She said she didn't want to be with me anyway and that wasn't the reason she broke up with Jamie; she said the reason was she just wanted to try and be single for a while. She also told me she kind of wanted Jamie to get with Myliey- although I don't believe that at all.
I put the picture back on the fridge and wheel myself into the living room, forgetting what I saw on the picture- taking my crutches with me. Inside the living room there are 4 teenagers all partying and just overall having a good time. Although they shouldn't, Kyron, Myliey and Brooke are drinking alcohol and I even watch Jamie try to take a sip- Kyron stopping him. I decide to stand up with my crutches and try to party a little- this is my 16th birthday after all. "HEY ASH!" Kyron calls from across the room, music blasting through the speakers making it hard for me to hear him. "WANNA DANCE NOW?"
I take his hand with one of mine, leaning the other on a side cabinet to keep my balance. I put one crutch to the side, and move my wheelchair completely out of the way. His hand feels soft to the touch, on my young, delicate skin. I look up and so does he, the pair of us making eye contact. His gorgeous eyes mixed with sky-blue and forest-green stare deep into my soul, taking every bad thing out of it. He grabs my other hand as I put my hurt leg onto a cushion, so I'm half-kneeling on it. He then gently takes my other hand into his, and we dance slowly as the rock music blasts behind us. It definitely doesn't fit our style of dance that Kyron and I are doing right now, but I'm starting to zone out.
We dance slowly, romantically but also a little awkwardly as we can't move around because of my leg. I get lost in his gorgeous blue eyes, and his soul is gently disintegrating as he looks into my green-hazel eyes. We get lost in our own parallel universe as we slow dance to rock music- a rather unusual thing to do. To me, the background music doesn't matter though. I just know that I'm in love with this boy and I never want to leave him. Suddenly, and almost impossibly, we hear the phone ring. It's the house-phone and anyone can answer. Kyron and I zone out of our romantic moment and he runs over to the front of the living room to pick up the phone and answer it.
"HELLO?" He shouts down the phone as music is still blasting in the background, making the whole house vibrate. "TURN IT OFF, BROOKE!" I shout, so Kyron can speak on the phone. She turns it off like I demanded and Kyron continues with his phone call.
"Hi, sorry about that. We were just playing music. This is Kyron Berkley, how can I help?"
Ugh- that dreamy voice. It's almost too amazing to fall for, but I can't help myself. He talks with an unknown caller on the other side of the phone line for at least 4 minutes now? I don't know who he's talking to or what they're saying, but Kyron remains mostly silent, just nodding his head every now and again. 'Everything okay?' I mouth to him. He nods and starts to curl his finger around the phone's wire. If I can even find the way he does that attractive, I can find everything about this boy attractive. And I do. I love Kyron so much. He means everything to me. I feel a little bad for Brooke though- I told her that I would talk to her more often and not just to Kyron but I've fell so in love with KB, I don't know if I even have time for a best friend anymore- as terrible as that sounds."Yup. Okay, thank you. I'll tell the others." What? The others? Does he mean us? What's happened?- oh my god. "Can we put the music back on now?" Jamie asks, looking extremely bored. "One second," Kyron replies and he looks down at his feet. What is he doing? He walks over to me and moves the chair, passing me my other crutch. He then stands on the sofa and says, "Guys," as if he's presenting some BBC news show or something. "Berkley's just rang us and we have a huge case on our hands. I know we were supposed to be taking a break from crimes for a while, but this is a big one that we need involvement in- and urgently. It hasn't even been released on the news yet, so this one's really important."
"Ooh, what is it?" I ask, in pure curiosity.
"Oh- Ash."
"Um, yeah? What's up?"
"You and I can't take part in this one...exactly."
"Why not?" I ask, confused and sort of upset.
"Look down," he says, implying that I'm on crutches with a broken leg.
"Oh, well what about you?"
"Chest." He says. It's a one word answer but I know what he means. He looks at Myliey and glances at her for a second as if to say, 'Thanks, idiot.' Although it was a good few weeks ago now, Kyron's chest is still sore and it isn't fully healed so he needs to be extra careful with it. Oh well, at least him and I will be left alone in here together. We can watch a movie, go on a walk (or a ride- wheelchair) on the beach, and do some other fun stuff! We could really bond- oh my god this is our chance!"You know what that means," I say, hoping he'll understand what I mean.
"You and I could watch some movies or something together- really build our bond."
"Omg yes! That would be so fun Ash! Berkley's has asked us though that maybe some days we could help out with the crime on the computer and things."
"That's fine-" I reply, being interrupted.
"What's the crime anyway?" Myliey barges in.
"Oh right, I forgot to say, didn't I. Supposedly a child went missing last night. She was last seen at her house which is in Auckland, but they haven't told us anything else so far. We'll probably have to go to Auckland to figure out some more clues there. Well- you will." He stops talking and looks down in sheer sadness. Kyron looks gutted that he can't go and solve this crime with the others. I'm gutted that I can't go either, but Kyron and I are going to enjoy ourselves in the comfort of our own home- our own town. I can just feel it. Everyone looks up at Kyron in surprise but also happiness. This is a big crime on our- their hands. Damn. Not our hands- I'm not in this. They're happy because they're going to be participating in something big. I'm excited for the lot of them, really.A missing child though? A possible abduction? Things are going to get interesting from here.
