I wanted to skip the assembly, but it was required. It seemed as if the whole world was inside of the auditorium. The place was silked with red and gold. I wondered how much my parents even paid for me to come here. Especially at all the fancy designings and such.
Soobin led the way into the seat since we had ran into eachother earlier. He sat in the seat beside me and began to bounce his leg. I couldn't help, but wonder what he was thinking since he looked so concentrated on the stage far in front of us.
Beomgyu took a seat right behind Soobin in the row behind us. His clothes were still as ruffled as Soobin's. Neither of them seemed to care to smooth their clothes. Maybe they didn't even feel like doing it or just didn't have too much time. Well, Soobin did, but I didn't know about Beomgyu.
After about a minute or so, the lights went dim in the auditorium. The administrators were all on stage in a seat. All except for the principal. He stood at a pedistool with a mic attached to it. He had a big smile on his face. That smile made me feel a bit uneasy.
"Ladies and gentlemen," he said, "It has been brought to my attention that the west wing elevator has been used by students without authority. The reason? I don't know. Just know it's been off limits since 1988 and will stay that way."
I felt a bit embarrassed since I was a student who went that way, but Beomgyu was the one who lead me there. Maybe there was a reason since the principal seemed upset about it. What secrets were they hiding?
"From now on," the principal said, "There will be cameras in that area and the halls near it. As we should've done this before. So not only do I apologize for not being so clear about it within the first week, I apologize to those students who are going to suffer with detention."
My heart dropped into my stomach when he said that. I hadn't been coming to this school for a week yet and I already had detention. It was all Beomgyu's fault! Why did he have to lead me to such a place? I glared back at him. He looked at me and cocked his head. His eyebrows raised in amusement.

We all finally headed out of the assembly to go on with the rest of our day. I found myself following Soobin unconciously. Soobin walked swiftly through the crowd almost as if he wanted to run. I had trouble keeping up, but I managed.
After a bit of walking, we finally got to his dorm. Soobin looked around before opening the door and letting me go in first. His room smelled like older cologne and champagne. It was odd considering it was the first week and everyone had hardly settled in.
The door was shut quietly behind us. I stood in the center taking in the smells and ambience. It was still, but full of words I couldn't make out. Soobin motioned for me to sit on his bed. I sat on the edge waiting for him to begin explaining something, anything.
Soobin stood in front of me with his hands behind his back. I looked up at him curiously since he was just staring. He proceeded to take a deep breath and shift from one foot to the other. Soobin then looked towards the window and nodded.
"You gonna teach me anything or what?" I asked impatiently.
"Right," he cleared his throat, "You're magic of shadows, right?"
"Death," I corrected.
He looked at me, "So you're very new."
I nodded.
"Well," he said, "Death magic requires full control of your conscience and focus. Studying it isn't only important, of course, but required. As it is to every element. Now, life magic, or known as ethereal magic, is your cancel enemy. Um, cancel enemies are, uh."
