'This is stupid...'
Y/n sighed internally. Shizuku was currently arm-wrestling a young green-haired boy for a diamond. He seemed to be around twelve or thirteen. A white-haired boy stood next to him, about the same age. He had cold blue eyes that took in every movement everyone made. Another older man was standing behind them, announcing loudly.
"What's this?! Is the unbeatable boy finally going to lose?!"
Shizuku was struggling, but so was the boy. Until now, he wasn't using his full strength. This made the white-haired boy look uneasy. Finally, Shizuku lost. She walked back to them with a disappointed look.
"Man, I really wanted that diamond."
Feitan, who was also watching the challenge, turned to Y/n.
"You try."
"Why?" She asked with an annoyed glance. "It's stupid."
"Because I said so," he growled.
Feitan was in a bad mood. Y/n knew not to argue with him or else she'd end up with a broken wrist-or worse. With a vexed sigh, she walked over to the table and gave them the entrance amount.
"Oh, another brave girl! No man has beaten him yet, so the girls are going to try, I guess."
Was he underestimating her because she was female? Oh, he was going to have a rude awakening. The boy held out his right arm, so Y/n grasped it with her left. He began to press a little, but her hand didn't budge. Once he realized the situation, he used his full strength to try and move her arm to no avail. With a surge of rage-induced strength, Y/n slammed his arm to the table, breaking the table in the process. The boy used ko to prevent his arm from breaking as well.
There were a few gasps of awe and surprise. The man who was talking before suddenly grew quiet. The white-haired boy took a step in her direction but was stopped by her challenger.
"I'm Gon," he said with a smile, rubbing his arm. "You're so strong!"
"Y/n," she responded. "You are as well."
He handed her the diamond, which was then thrown to Shizuku. Y/n fell into pace with Feitan, their footsteps in sync. The black-haired thief was admiring the diamond with a blank expression.
"Good job," Franklin offered, walking ahead of them.
"Thanks!"
"Tsk."
Y/n glared at Feitan. He threw her an annoyed glance.
"I know you did not just 'tsk' me, Feitan."
"Ah, but I did pet."
Y/n lashed out, attempting to playfully smack him over the head. He dodged with a mischievous grin. Phinks, who had caught up, gave them a small smile.
"You two act like some weird couple."
"Look who's talking," Y/n teased. "Mr. oh-I-miss-Nobunaga-so-much!"
She had to evade a punch that would've crushed her instantly. With a more lighthearted mood in the air, they entered the auction house. The process itself was easy thanks to Shalnark and his little antennae that controlled them. Phinks and Shizuku branched off to take their places while Y/n, Feitan, and Franklin went backstage. They killed whoever they ran into.
"Y/n," Franklin rumbled. "When Feitan gives the signal, cover your ears. My nen can be pretty loud."
She nodded, adjusting the straps on her shoes. None of the items were here yet, surprisingly. The auction was supposed to start any minute now. Feitan gave them a nod, which signaled the beginning of the 'show'. Y/n walked out first and everyone quieted down. She could feel the lecherous glares on her. She sure wasn't going to regret killing them. Feitan stood at the podium, Franklin towering over him from behind.
"Let's skip the formalities," he spoke loudly. "You will all die now."
There was the signal. Y/n covered her ears with a small smile as Franklin's fingertips seemed to detach and dangle from chains. Feitan also protected his ears as gunshots rang throughout the room like a choir of world war II soldiers. Bodies dropped like flies all around them. One bodyguard tried to fight back with his nen but was decapitated swiftly by Y/n.
Soon everyone was dead. Shizuku entered slowly with Blinky, her vacuum-like nen.
"Suck everything up, Blinky," she ordered quietly. "Blood, bones, flesh, and all the chairs."
Y/n watched in interest as everything was pulled into her vacuum as if it were a black hole. She sure didn't want to mess with Shizuku...or any of the Troupe members, at that. She was be killed without hesitation and without fail.
They all left to go to the meeting place, where the others stood with an irritated expression.
"It's all gone," Shalnark explained.
"All of the damn items aren't here!" Uvogin repeated.
Chrollo stood behind him and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Please calm down. We'll figure this out."
"There's no way anyone could have known. Unless...there's a Judas among us."
They all seemed to look at her. Y/n felt anger rise in her chest. How could she have leaked anything out? They kept her in eyesight every damn minute! To her astonishment, and to the astonishment of everyone else, Feitan stood up for her.
"There's no way she could've done it. I've made sure she stays under my watch at all times."
At this point, she was so relieved that she didn't even care that he treated her like a troublesome dog. They seemed convinced by his logic and their trust in him.
"Anyways," Chrollo added. "I don't consider Judas to be a traitor. They say Judas sold Jesus over for 30 silver coins. How much would this traitor sell us out for? Think about it. What would he gain by selling us to the Mafia? Money? Fame? Status? Would that really gratify any one of us?"
They nodded in agreement. Since that was settled, they boarded a hot air balloon to soar over the city in search of something Chrollo wouldn't explain. He decided not to join since he had 'more urgent matters to attend to.'
It seems so peaceful here up in the sky. It's as if the chaos of the world doesn't exist. I wonder if this is how birds feel; Closed off from the world and alone with their family. Like nothing and no one can reach us.
Just as she thought this, the craft lurched towards the ground with a groan. Someone had shot them down. They all peered over the side, seemingly unfazed by the fact that they were hurling towards the earth. Below them stood a crowd of black-suited men with weapons of all kinds. It was the Mafia.
