"Fei."

"What do you want, Shalnark?"

"Wanna play cards with us?"

Y/n and Shalnark looked up from the game they were playing while Hisoka studied his cards.

"I'd rather die."

"That can be arranged. I chose you, Y/n!"

"I'm not a damn pokemon!"

"Oh, sorry. You're our little pet, of course."

Y/n grumbled in annoyance and grabbed Feitan by his collar and forced him to the ground. He snarled in anger and pushed her hand away.

"You don't control me, pet."

Shalnark backed away as the two stared each other down, bloodlust seeping out. Hisoka looked up from his cards with a sadistic smile.

"Now, now. Get along-"

"Shut up, clown," Y/n snapped. "No one's interested."

Feitan looked away with a slight smile as the others began laughing.

"Damn, Y/n," Uvogin bellowed. "And they call me savage?!"

Y/n couldn't help but giggle a little. The tense atmosphere died down and everyone joined in to play the game. Except for Chrollo, of course. He read in the corner, shrouded in shadows. Y/n could never get a good read on him. He seemed like the shadows themselves: dark and mysterious. Then, there was Feitan. He was even harder to read. Sometimes she thought that he must hate her, then others she caught him staring at her with an odd expression she couldn't quite place. Was he trying to understand her? Was it respect? Or was it simply a look of distaste? She found herself wanting to know more about him.

"Earth to Y/n?!"

Y/n snapped out of her thoughts as Shalnark waved his hand in front of her face. He smiled and said,

"What's going on in that head of yours, hmm?"

"N-nothing important," Y/n quickly assured.

Machi gave her a look of suspicion and sighed.

"Feitan asked you a question."

Y/n turned to the black-haired thief and tilted her head.

"What was your question, O mighty master?"

"Tell me more about your hometown."

Why did he want to know? There isn't much to gain from knowing about the town. He wasn't one for small talk so he must think that there is something he can get out of this. Chrollo looked up from his book in interest while the others gave her an expecting glance.

"Well, as I said before, it's a lot like Meteor city," She began slowly. "It's on the Arukan continent, far east near the gulf."

She stopped and took a deep breath. She had to pick her words carefully or else she might leak out too much.

"It's pretty big. Most of the city is very dark and in shambles. The west side has started to be rebuilt, so it's a lot nicer."

She placed her card down and fiddled with the ones in her hand. Her eyes scanned them but were not concentrated on its details.

"I lived near the south side, which was the most dangerous. Murders, thieves, hitmen, and more. Food was scarce and you were damn lucky if you didn't end up with some disease. But other than that, it was actually pretty peaceful."

"Peaceful?" Interjected Phinks. "How was any of that peaceful?"

"We had a...government of sorts?" Y/n explained. "They called themselves the Outlaws. They kept order in our part of town. Each section had its own group of the Outlaws, but ours was where the base was."

"What about your life?" Questioned Shizuku. "Did you have a family?"

"I...for a while, I guess."

Y/n gave no more explanation. This was one part of her life she'd never share. There was a long silence, then a loud commotion of cards being thrown down and groans of disappointment as Feitan gave everyone a sly smirk.

"I win."

As he said this, he looked directly into Y/n's eyes. 'What does he mean? Did he somehow figure something out by what I said? Or is he just trying to make me nervous?'  She realized that if he was, he was sure doing a great job at it.

Everyone dispersed after cleaning up the cards. Y/n looked around in boredom. She wanted to go outside but she wasn't allowed to yet. How unlucky did she have to be? First, she was being chased by a Zoldyck, then threatened by the Phantom Troupe that she just happened to run into, then she was basically kidnapped by them. Y/n sighed. 'Death would've been better than this.'

"Y/n, come here."

It was Chrollo. He beckoned her forward. The setting sun sent blood-colored rays of light spilling into the building, making her feel uneasy. It felt like some kind of foreshadowing to her. Y/n stopped a few feet away from him and stared into his eyes almost challenging him to try anything. He gave her a smile that sent shivers down her spine.

"I have decided to let you join us on missions. Of course, you will be accompanied by at least one spider. You are not a member, however."

He suddenly grew very serious. His intense stare and aura made Y/n flinch a little. It seemed as if the shadows grew, making her feel suffocated.

"Listen well, Y/n. You may not be a member of the Troupe, but you will still adhere to the rules. That means that you will not fight with any members of the Troupe. You will not leave or take any rash actions without consulting me, first. Whenever I call, you come. I decided to put you under Feitan's watch since he will not be swayed by any personal feelings like the others might. You will obey him or else he will punish you accordingly. Understood?"

Y/n quivered with rage. She wasn't some dog they could just order around! She didn't even want to be here! There's no reason for them to hold her captive, much less treat her like some housepet. She opened her mouth to argue, but after seeing the look on the boss's face, decided against it.

"Yes, Danchou."
