"I want to show you something."

Soul takes your hands in his, eyes sparkling with mirth. You giggle at his excitement, letting him drag you off to God-knows-where. The two of you run through the halls of the academy, laughing quietly, praying you won't be caught for sneaking around after hours.

It was his idea to come here, of course. Most of the schemes you two participated in were constructed by the one and only Soul Evans. He'd promised you a surprise. You'd only nodded with a small grin, letting him sneak you into the school.

You giggle again, nearly tripping over your feet as he leads you through the halls. He lets out a small laugh of his own, casting a look back at you. "Hey, don't be too loud or we'll be caught."

Nodding, you mumble an apology, smile still playing on your lips. He leads you to a unfamiliar hallway, pulling you in front of a door. He pulls a pin out of his pockets, jamming it around in the lock.

"Soul!" You laugh breathlessly, astonished by his actions. "Breaking and entering? You're just a little criminal today. "

"Wouldn't be the first time," he smirks. The lock opens, and Soul gives a small 'aha'. He carefully pushes open the creaking door, quickly ushering you inside.

It's dark in the room. The small sliver of light showing from beyond the door is slowly fading as Soul closes it. You're left in the dark for a brief moment as Soul fumbles briefly for the light switch. Finally, he finds it, and the room is bathed in bright, white light.

You squint against the sudden light change. Your eyes slowly adjust, and you're able to make out some of the objects in the room. One in particular catches your eyes - a black piano, white keys reflecting the ceiling light.

"We have... a music room?" You can't help but ask, bewildered. "That's kind of odd considering the academy's main focus is to train and educate meisters and weapons."

"I think the other students use this class," Soul responds, shoes clicking against the floor as he further enters the room. "Maybe for their extracurriculars."

Ah, you'd forgotten there was a whole other part of the DWMA. It was easy to forgot when you'd been in the EAT class for years, growing up surrounding by the same group of people.

Soul sits down at the piano, and you follow him, sitting down by his side. Your shoulders brush together as you adjust. Soul opens the piano cover, fingers hovering over ivory keys.

"Is this what you snuck me into the school for?" You laugh. It's like he never even considered the possibility of ditching class and coming here during school hours. "Do you even play?"

"Obviously." Soul rolls his eyes before cracking his knuckles, lightly placing his hands on the piano keys. "Why else would we have come here? We weren't just gonna stare at a piano for two hours."

You flick his forehead, causing him to wince. "The sarcasm is not appreciated."

"Noted."

With a content sigh, you lean your head against his shoulder. "Alright, loverboy. Play me a song, why don't you?"

Soul smirks. "It would be my pleasure."

He takes a deep breath, posture straightening. It's odd to see him this attentive, shoulders not slouched for once. He exhales, and then his fingers fly across the keys, melody echoing through the music room.

Your eyes widen at the talent he shows right off the bat. Souls fingers move rapidly up and down the keys, a melancholy melody reverberating throughout the room. He doesn't even seem to break a sweat as he plays, never once missing a note.

The white-haired male has to have been playing for years. With the talent he posses, it's only reasonable to say he's been classically trained in the art. Soul seems to be having fun with it as well, pouring his heart into the song. It's a rapid-fire onslaught of notes one after another. The haunting tune bounces off the walls of the music room and back into your ears.

He finishes the song, the final note ringing out throughout the classroom. You lift your head off his shoulder, and he turns to look at you, cocky grin on his face. "So, how was that?"

You place your hand over his on the piano, carefully intertwining your fingers. "Great. Amazing. How did you even learn to play like that?"

Soul shrugs, his other hand coming to slowly play a melody on the keys. It's a far slower one than the last song he played, easier by definition. "I dunno. Just kind of picked it up one day-" His left hand plays a quick scale. "-and it stuck."

"Well, I think you're a fantastic pianist," you tell him, scooting in closer to his side.

"Yeah?" He turns his head, nose brushing yours. You can feel his breath on your face. "Was it worth sneaking into the school after hours?"

"Oh definitely," you exclaim breathlessly, leaning in for a kiss.

He chuckles, and leans in so his lips will meet your own. Before your lips can touch, however, the door to the music room bursts open. You both jump back in shock, snapping your heads to look at the door.

There, Sid stands, dumbfounded look on his face. He crosses his arms, narrowing his eyes at the two of you. "Soul? (y/n)? What are you two doing here?... My God, were you-"

Both you and Soul's faces flush. You rapidly shake your hands back and forth, fumbling to come up with an excuse. "A-Ah, no Sid! Soul was just showing me he could play piano!... Right, Soul?"

"Oh! Um, right!" Soul quickly closes the piano cover, face bright red. He grabs your hand, getting up from the piano bench. "Uh, it's getting late, we should probably head home. See you later, Sid!"

Before you could sneak around Sid, he sticks an arm out, blocking your path. The both of you sigh, turning to look at him.

"When I was alive, I would've given you detention for sneaking into school after hours!" Sid scolds, causing the both of you to wince. "And I see no reason why I shouldn't today!"

He hands the both of you detention slips, ushering you out the door. You quickly exit the school, heads bowed in shame. Soul grabs your hand, swinging your conjoined hands back and forth as you head home.

"So... was it worth it?" He asks sheepishly, ducking his head in embarrassment.

You laugh, pecking him on the cheek. "Absolutely."
