It's springtime.

Crona's never really liked spring (besides, it's not like they've gotten much of a chance to really enjoy any season. It gets lonely being trapped in a dark room all day with no one but Ragnarok to keep you company). Spring means a season of rebirth, a season of new life. In return, that also means it must be a season of blossoming death. Spring harbors life only to let it go out into the world to be slaughtered in the months to come.

They remember springs with Medusa. They remember butchering animals as they learned how to properly wield their sword, mind seeming to separate from body. Still, they'd never forget the tortured cries of the beings killed, or the blood forever staining their clothes.

No, Crona does not like spring.

... But seeing you looking so happy in the springtime may change their mind.

The layout of the DWMA is more confusing than one would think. It's a labyrinth of a school, and even Miss Marie, who was a prior student, often got lost.

Crona finds themselves lost in the maze that calls itself the DWMA. It wouldn't be the first time, but usually, they're able to find their way out by now. However, they seem absolutely stumped. Every hallway appears to look the exact same.

A hand creeps up to lightly tug at their hair while they bite their bottom lip nervously. "I don't know how to deal with this..."

Eventually, the hallway they're in comes to a dead-end. A single door sits at the end of the hallway. Crona really doesn't want to have to walk all the way back to where they came from (it'd be embarrassing). Besides, there might be someone on the other side of the door who can guide them to the right place.

So, they place their hand on the doorknob and push the door open. They're greeted with a bright, blinding light. They squint their eyes and lift a hand up to shield themselves from the sun. After a couple of blinks, they realize this door had led them outside. They're on a platform of sorts, surrounded by growing plants.

It seems someone has set up a mini garden of sorts. It's filled with flowers, fruits, and vegetables, all growing under the scorching sun. Crona wonders if a gardening club exists at the school. Maybe it's some kind of extracurricular?

Then, someone emerges from amidst the rows of growing plants. Crona freezes as another person starts towards them, bright smile plastered on their face.

"Ah, hello there!" You dust your dirt-covered hands off on the front of your clothing, heading over to greet the guest in your garden. "You must be lost, huh? Not many people come here."

"U-Um-" Crona stammers, putting their hands in the air defensively. "Yes? I mean, yes! I-I am lost! Sorry to bother you, I'll be on my way-"

"Oh, you're not a bother!" You interrupt, waving your hand as if dismissing the idea. You then extend a dirt-caked hand to shake. "My name's (Y/N)!"

They awkwardly grab you hand in a loose grip, lightly shaking it. "Um, my name's Crona... I, uh, I should really get going-"

"Ah! Right!" You clasp your hands together. "You were lost! Now, where we're you heading? Lemme see if I can try to help you."

Crona explains their situation. They rub the back of their neck, avoiding your gaze. It's embarrassing to admit they've gotten lost, but you don't seem to mind. You haven't even made fun of them.

Instead of jeering at them, you just smile. You explain how to get to where they need to go, making sure they understand each direction. When you're done, you give them a nod, picking up a small potted plant. They head towards the door, but you stop them before they can leave.

"If you ever get lost again, just find me," you tell them. "It's not a big deal - honest. Besides, I could use more company around here."

The meister gives a shaky nod, pink blush dusting their cheeks. "Uh, y-yeah... That'd be nice."

Crona doesn't like spring.

Still, for some reason, they find themselves outdoors, continually drawn to you. There's something about you that makes it so they just can't stay away. If it's you, they'll suffer through the rainy, wet mess of springtime.

So they sit with you, watching you tend to your flowerbed. They laugh awkwardly at your jokes, hoping that whatever you said was supposed to be funny (they're not very good at picking up social cues, but you don't seem to mind), they stand among the sunflowers with you, helping you measure their ever-growing heights. And it's... nice.

In all honesty, they can't admit they've ever like spring this much since they've met you. Crona's happy here with you, happy in the little sanctuary of a garden. It hasn't gotten rid of their disdain for the season, but it's made it more bearable. The muggy days are not longer suffocating when you're by their side.

No, Crona doesn't like spring...

But they can bear it if it's spent with you.
