"Mummy, daddy look it's snowing!" Maisie climbed up onto the window sill and pointed out the window at the snowflakes falling from the sky. "wow, look at that Mais!" Marcus was fascinated with her. "can we play outside?"

The struggles of being a parent. Don't get me wrong I loved it, but having to get up super early in the morning was effort. I'm not a bad parent though, so I always care to my daughter's needs.

"Finish eating first Maisie." I replied to her question, which she sulked at. "don't whine or you won't go out at all, okay?" this always made her stop, and she continued eating her sandwich. She ate it as if it was her last meal.

I went into the hallway to get out her coat, gloves and scarf. Didn't want her to get cold. Then I went out to the garden to get the sled out of the shed. I'm surprised it wasn't falling apart by now, i've had it since I was a child. I went back inside and they both already had their coats and shoes on.

Maisie jumped up and down in excitement, Marcus had to pick her up to get her to stop. "Ready?" I twisted the handle slowly and opened the door. The once green ground had already turned white, and snow was still falling.

We went to our nearest hills, only a five minute walk away from our house. "Daddy will take you up there and then you will slide down on the sled" It was Maisie's first time in the snow, so she had no clue what was going on. "Can you go, I don't want to hurt her if she falls out" Marcus whispered to me. He was always anxious with Maisie. The first thing he said to me when he first held her was "what if i drop her?" I always assured him that he wouldn't, but he was always like that. "you go have fun, she want hurt herself, the snow is soft"

I watched them walk up the hill until they got to the top. I counted down from three then they slid down, Maisie giggled the whole way down. I took some pictures on my phone when they reached the bottom, they looked cute. "Mummy your turn!" She begged me to have a go. "okay, okay!" She started to run off again up the hill and waited for me at the top. "ready?" i asked once we were on the sled. "go, go!" she shouted. i pushed us so we slid down the hill, it was way more fun than i anticipated.
We took some photos in the snow under the trees. Saving these ones for the 2021 christmas card.
"Come on then lets go!" Marcus said, I could see that they were both cold, Maisie's cheeks were rosy. I picked her up and Marcus took my hand as we walked back to our house.

"Ahh, warm." It was like walking off an airplane into a hot country, instantly feeling the heat burn on your face. "Mummy can we watch tv?" she asked politely. "Yeah what do you want to watch?" i took off our coats and shoes, then went to the lounge, turning on the tv. "peppa pig!" god, not again. "okay." i put on peppa pig, she sat on my lap quietly watching it. i wondered where Marcus was, he wasn't here with us.

About 20 minutes later he came back with dinner and hot chocolates. Before he could say anything i silenced him with a finger to my lips, Maisie was sleeping peacefully on my lap. "Let me take her up to bed." Obviously all that playing outside wore her out. At least I could turn off peppa pig now. We had seen every episode at least 100 times now.

"she's in bed." marcus said as he sat next to me. I leaned my head on his shoulder, taking a sip of hot chocolate.  I was worn out too to be honest. It was only 5:30 at least. "go to sleep if you want" Marcus noticed I was almost falling asleep, and let me. He kissed my forehead gently and sat still to let me sleep.
