Carson continuously glanced at the clock while she cleaned the countertops at Mickey's Diner. She had her first game with her new coach in two hours and still had to go home to change and ensure that Charlie got ready. Carson spent the next hour taking and delivering orders, cleaning counter spots when customers left, and taking dirty dishes to the back to be cleaned.

"Princess," Casey began as she gently grabbed her daughter's upper arm, "you need to go get ready. I'll be there as soon as I can. I love you."

"I love you too, mom," Carson said, hugging her mom and kissing her cheek. She quickly untied her apron and hung it on the small coat rack that held all the other waitress aprons and walked to the door. She stopped at the door and pulled off her white Converse in exchange for her rollerblades. She blew her mom a kiss and skated off towards her apartment.

"Charlie?" Carson called out as she stepped into her apartment. She sat her Converse by the door and skated over to the couch and sat down to untie her rollerblades and take them off. "Charlie?" she yelled again.

"He better not be ignoring me," Carson said under her breath as she walked down the short hallway to her brother's room. She knocked on the door twice and waited for her brother to open it. When Charlie didn't open his door, Carson turned the doorknob and pushed it opened.

Charlie jumped and pulled his headphones off his head when his sister entered the room. "Princess, you almost gave me a heart attack!"

"Time to get ready, Char," Carson informed as she backed out of his room before pivoting on her left foot and walking towards her room.

"Already?" Charlie asked as he looked at the small digital clock that sat on his bedside table. He quickly jumped to his feet and hurried to his dresser.

"Hurry or we'll be late!" Carson shouted as she slipped out of her work dress. She quickly grabbed the black shirt and sweatpants she wore under her jersey and pads and slipped them on.

"Carson, where's my jersey?" Charlie asked from his room. He moved around the clothes in his dresser drawers before shutting the drawer and moving on to look in his closet.

"In the laundry basket. Mom washed them last night," Carson said as she walked to the living room. She quickly grabbed both hers and her brother's jersey from the blue laundry basket on the coach and tossed his to him when she passed his room.
