"Coach isn't here, why do we have to be?" Connie asked as the team stretched before their workout. Dean suggested doing a light workout before the day's game and Carson mentioning the old football field that was opened for the Junior Goodwill Games athletes.
"We have a game tonight. We have to work out." Dean responded and led the next stretch.
"I say mutiny. Who's with me?" Goldberg said and straightened from stretching his legs.
"Goldberg, I'm too tired for mutiny," Dwayne answered as he straightened up.
"Come on, guys, it's not like we couldn't use the conditioning," Julie said and raised her head to look at them.
"Speak for yourself, babe," Dean said and the rest of the team followed him in standing up.
"Her name is Julie, not 'babe'," Adam defended.
"Don't tell me how to talk, rich boy!" Dean said and walked forward to push Adam.
"Dean, stop!" Carson said and pushed herself between the two before Dean could push Adam. She put one hand on Dean's chest to hold him back. "You don't get to push us around when you're mad."
"And you don't get to tell me what to do, Princess," Dean said, sneering when he called her by her nickname before putting a hand on her bruised side and roughly pushing her into Adam. Carson pressed her lips together to suppress a moan of pain and fell back into Adam. He grabbed under her arms and stumbled back until he had gotten his feet under him and gently pushed Carson to her feet.
"Hey, Portman, chill!" Fulton yelled and ran forward to push Dean. When the rest of the team ran forward to join Fulton in shoving Dean, Carson stepped back and watched.
"Yo, Team USA, what are you gonna do today, a million jumping jacks?" someone yelled and the team briefly stopped fighting to see who it was. Carson walked around her team and saw the boy who'd been antagonizing Jesse during the tournament standing by the entrance gate.
"This kid's crazier than me. Forget about him," Dean said, pointing at him before turning back to his team. Carson crossed her arms over her chest and squinted her eyes at the boy. "Look, Fulton," Dean said and the fight between the two resumed.
"Hey, man, I'm getting sick of you!" Jesse said and stepped away from the group to stand closer to the boy. Carson walked over to stand beside Jesse and he rested his elbow on her shoulder and leaned onto her. Carson kept her arms crossed and spread her legs shoulder-width apart and tilted her head to the side.
