"Boss, she's awake."
Voices I didn't recognize talked back and forth. I squirmed in a firm wooden chair. The chains around my wrist were already started to chaff.
"Where am I." The words tripped over my mouth. I scanned the room, but it was too dark to see anything. They flicked on the lights.
It's an interrogation room?
"Good morning, Y/N. How are you?" The Chief of Police sat politely on the other side of the table.
"I've had better days," I mumbled. I shot him a nasty glare. "Why am I here."
He smiled, but nothing about it made me feel at ease. He slammed a folder on the table. Opening it to layout four images.
It's the river from before...
"Have you seen this river?" That menacing smile never once dropped from his face.
"No..." I whispered. "No?" He said, challenging me.
"I mean, yes." I lowered my head. "Good job."
He moved the pictures around, showing me more places. All of them being places the League raided.
"Every single place you've been, at least 1 person lost their life." The words spat out of his mouth. "Death seems to follow you. Wouldn't you say, Seren?"
It's been so long since anyone has ever called me that. Not even the League calls me that anymore. It's like a dead name...
"I'd like it if you call me by my name." I whispered. "Please."
He gave me a look that I hadn't really ever seen before. He scoffed. "Okay, Y/N. Would you want the school to know about this?"
I shot my head up, "No!" I shouted. His gaze changed. I could tell I was acting exactly how he wanted me to.
"Do you know where this is?" He showed me the Shie Hassaikai household. "Yeah, it's abandoned now. Overhaul got arrested, so what."
He sighed and snatched the picture away. "We aren't perfect. We forget things sometimes. It seems a few of the villains who were close to Overhaul escaped and are forming a new group."
He got up and started to walk around the room.
"Okay, so what. I was never with Overhaul. I know nothing about them or what their plans ever were! Shigaraki never let me near him."
"Then we're in the same boat. We need your help." He admitted walking slower.
"I think I'm in a position to say no to your cry for help. Especially since I'm the one who's tied up!" I shouted, wriggling around as the chains scraped my wrists.
"Shut up and listen." He sighed. "You know the underground much better than any of here do. We want to stop their little reunion before it gets out of hand."
"Then stop it. I am of no use to you. I told you, I never knew Overhaul like that." I tore my head away from him.
This is so stupid. Why am I here?
"I don't think you understand the position you're in. You're set to be sentenced for years. I can make that go away, as well as all your crimes if you do this for me." He had me right where he wanted me. I was cornered. I had no right to say no now.
I hung my head low and lost the tension in my body. "Why me?" I whispered.
"Cause you're a villain after all. Having a villain on our side would be marvelous."
