I put down the flash drive and went to my bedroom to get my laptop then quickly went back to the living room. I turned on my laptop and inserted the flash drive in it. I hesitated in opening them dahil hindi ako sigurado sa mga makikita ko.
Inside the flash drive was lots of folders, some folders were for school and as we skim through the contents, the documents inside confirmed our suspicions. Documents after documents of school works and designs were all named to one person, Vodka Miranda.
Then there was a video that wasn't part of any folders, we played it and there it shows the same video that was played earlier. I closed it instinctively because I have no intention to watch that horror again. Vin took the laptop from me and run through the contents of the flash drive again.
He then looked up from the laptop and exchanged a meaningful look with Shin and Miggy. He put down the laptop in the center table and showed us a password protected folder named V&V.
"Den, anong birthday ni Vodka?" tanong nito kay Denise.
"August 16, 1999." Sagot naman nito sa nobyo ko. Vin inputted different combinations of the birthday, but still no luck.
"Baka magpermanent lock yan." Pigil ni Miggy sa kanya and before anybody could reply to him, Miggy's phone started to ring. He looked at it then confusion settled down his face, but still he answered it. He put it on speaker and all of us remained quiet.
"Hello?" sagot ni Miggy sa phone niya.
"Ibalik niyo ang flash drive ko." Said a deep voice of a man, but something was off. It sounded like a recording or has been voiced altered.
"Wala akong alam sa sinasabi mo." Sagot ni Miggy and ended the call. Not a minute passed, and he received a message.
{Dalhin mo dito sa address na to ang flash drive or else.}
Miggy ignored the message and continued going through the files inside the flash drive pero hindi pa rin namin maaccess ang nakalock na folder nito. Kaya nagpasya na lang kami na ipagpabukas na lang ito. The guys went back to Vin's unit and the three of us were left again inside the unit. We made sure that the door of the unit is locked then head to bed. The three of us squeezed together in my bed and chitchatted a little before drifting to sleep one by one.
I woke up with the smell of pancakes circulating inside the unit. I quickly washed my face then head out of the room. Nadatnan ko si Angel cooking some pancakes in the kitchen.
"Kain na!" sabi niya sakin. I looked around the room and noticed someone missing.
"Den?" I called out.
"May pupuntahan daw siya nang maaga." Sabi ni Angel giving me a note that was stuck in the refrigerator.
Had something to do at my parent's house, call you soon. Love, Den.
Nagkibitbalikat lang ako and started eating, then the doorbell rang, and Angel was the one who opened it. Vin, Miggy and Shin came in the room laughing with each other and head straight to the table, joining us for breakfast.
"Asan si Den?" tanong naman ni Miggy after finishing his 2nd pancake.
"Maaga umalis." I answered and handed him the note Angel gave me. He quietly read it then panic and fear appeared on his face.
"What's wrong?" tanong ni Angel.
"Denise's parents are in the US." Sabi lang neto at tumayo na, he headed to the laptop that we left in the middle of the living room and started rummaging through the things surrounding it na parang may hinahanap. Realizing what Miggy just said I also stood up from my chair and headed to the room to look for the flash drive. Denise lied kung san siya pupunta pero bakit?
