Reggie's POV:

They spent the next hour tweaking the bit of the song that they had. Reggie was working the melody out on his bass when someone came through the door. It was Flynn, she was Julie's best friend and Julie had said that she wanted to come watch them play.

Flynn waved at them and Julie spoke up, "Hey Flynn! We were just about to run through what we have."

Flynn smiled and turned to look at him, "Good. Get to playing, cause mama needs her eye candy."

Reggie felt his mouth go dry. He'd memorized those words. They were tattooed just under his right shoulder blade and now, hearing them spoken out loud, Reggie didn't know what to do next. Luke shot him a look and then glanced at Alex with a shocked face. "Is everything okay guys?", Julie asked with worry in her tone.

"Uh- Uh yea. Everything's good, we should start.", Luke answered and Reggie was grateful for the save and the distraction.

Reggie shook off his surprise and got settled as Julie sat down and started to play. Reggie was trying to stay focused but he kept sneaking glances at Flynn. Flynn was his soulmate. She was beautiful and he'd always known her to be fierce at school. Flynn met his gaze, smiled and Reggie almost missed his part. Flynn chuckled shyly.

When they finished the song, Flynn was beaming at Julie and crushed her in a hug. "Jules, you were amazing! I'm so happy that you're playing again."  Julie laughed, "Thanks Flynn. Here, let me properly introduce you to the boys." Flynn let her go. "This is Luke, Alex, and Reggie.", Julie gestured towards them. Flynn smiled, "You guys are really good! Your band is Sunset Curve right?" Reggie swiped for the shirt in his bag, "Yea, here's a T-shirt, size beautiful." He smiled widely at her but she froze. Reggie's stomach dropped, "Uh- I'm sorry did I say something-"

Flynn flew her arms around him and his came to her waist, "I found you, and you're cute!" Reggie relaxed at her words and chuckled, "Oh thank God. I didn't know how I was gonna tell you if you hadn't had your mark yet."

Julie squeaked, "Oh my gosh Flynn, your soulmate is Reggie!? That's so cute!" Flynn released him and cupped his cheeks, "I can't believe that I found you. We should exchange numbers." Reggie nodded and they both reached for their phones.

After they exchanged numbers, Julie suggested that they go hang out for a bit. Alex and Luke said that it was cool and they'd find a time to practice later. Reggie left the studio, beaming, with Flynn's hand in his.

Julie's POV:

Julie was super happy for Flynn. Julie hadn't gotten her mark yet but she'd always found soulmates to be romantic. After watching her parents, she believed in the power of soul marks. Her mother had been her father's light and Julie wanted that kind of love.

Alex got up from his drums, "That was sweet, I feel like going to see Willie. You okay to get home, Luke?" Luke fist bumped him, "Yea man, see ya." and Alex left the studio.

Luke turned to put his guitar away. Julie smiled, "Don't you just love soulmates?" He chuckled, "I love when they work", he said it like he'd had experience. Julie frowned at him, "You don't believe in them?" "I just want to find my own love instead of some words telling me who the one is.", he looked at her with a guarded expression, like he expected her to argue. She didn't, "Yea, I guess I've never thought of it like that. I just loved seeing how my mom and dad loved each other so much. I want to be loved like that, I want to love someone like that." She sat on the couch and he came to sit beside her, "I guess I just have trust issues when it comes to soul marks. My parents are happy but I've seen someone's parents, who I love, that weren't good together." She reached to squeeze his hand, "You're gonna have a great soulmate Luke and I know that you'll be good to them." He looked at her and she hadn't realized how close they were. Their thighs were pressed together and their faces were inches apart. His eyes dropped to her lips and she itched to close the space- NO! JULIE YOU CANNOT KISS A GUY THAT YOU ONLY ACTUALLY MET YESTERDAY!

Julie shot up from the couch and ran her hand down her face. She tried to ignore the look of disappointment that flashed on his face before he quickly replaced it with something she couldn't read. "So, do you wanna finish writing or just wait for everyone else.", Julie tried desperately to cover up the awkwardness. Thankfully, he seemed to feel the same, "We can just finish later. I'll catch you later." Luke grabbed his bag and case and left. Julie sighed and tried to shake out her nerves. Luke Patterson was not what she'd expected.
