I'm extremely sorry if any of these are your name😫 Also, I promise in the chapter after the dancy stuff there'll be Noya fluff, I'm sorry-
"I'm Olivia, second year. I've been dancing for 11 years now, I started when I was 6." She smiled proudly, looking over everyone like she was their empress. Hell no- Y/n was younger and had been dancing longer. How lame was that girl?
"I'm Stacey, second year. I've been dancing for 7 years." Ah, so that's why Olivia felt so superior. She had been dancing longer the her best friend. Or at least, Stacey looked to be her best friend. They continued around the circle, only one girl standing out to Y/n as someone she'd like to be friends with.
"I'm Beatrix, second year. This is my second year of dance."
"Laura, first year. Fourth year of dance."
"Alex, first year. seventh year of dance."
"Yachi, first year. This is my first year of dance." Yachi was standing next to Y/n, and looked so nervous that she didn't know how she could help the poor girl calm down. But it was her turn next, so she'd have to speak up.
"I'm Y/n, I'm a first year. I've been dancing for 14 years." She had actually started when she was two. It was true. And the look of furious shock that had flickered across Olivia's face when she'd said it made her glad she hadn't lied.
Around nine more girls went around the circle, all relatively new to dance. There were five other second years and four other first years, so it seemed even. Y/n felt calm. For time in forever, somewhere relatively public she was calm. It must have been the familiarity of a dance studio. But the calm dissipated when Sophie clapped her hands and announced that it was time for the dance-off.
"You all have had to do ballet to be in this class. But what style do you guys want the dance off to be in? You can each pick one style, your favourite and dance to one song. You don't all have to do the same, mkay?" She clapped her hand again. "Olivia will go first, followed by Stacey then Y/n. Let's do this."
She walked over to the computer linked to the sound system. The studio was much like Y/n's own one at home, the familiar floor, the atmosphere. The only difference was the lights, which every time she looked was she was blinded by. Olivia stepped forward.
"I'm going to dance to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, and I'll be doing Jazz as my style." Typical. Of course Olivia would choose Jazz, and one of the more common warm-up songs. In her opinion, Jazz was one of the easiest for improvisation too, unlike the style she knew she'd choose, which was possibly the hardest.
"Okay!" Sophie opened the computer and started scrolling through it, as everyone moved to the sides and Olivia moved to stand in the middle, striking a pose with a hip sticking out, her right hand resting on it. She smirked, and the music started playing.
I didn't ask for a free ride. She drew her hand up the side of her body and spun her head.
I only asked you to show me a real good time. She winked, before spinning on her heel and walking to the back and striking another pose. Y/n rolled her eyes.
I never asked for the rainfall. She knee-dropped to the floor, and kicked her right leg up. So she was a righty. But could she use her left leg too?
At least I showed up, you showed me nothing at all. She got back up, in the weirdest way Y/n had ever seen, thrashing on the flor before scrambling up. What the heck?
It's coming down on me. She shot her arms out, pulling them back in. This was kinda boring.
The entire dance went on like that. Sure, she was good. And yeah, Jazz was a style where the audience would normally get pumped up. She picked a good song, but her movements were very obviously concentrated, and Y/n didn't feel anything but boredom while she danced. How she was aiming to become dance captain, she didn't know. Sure, she could do double turns. Not that impressive, and she could over-split on one leg but nothing else. Right kicks every count of 8 got boring.
Rain, on, me. She struck what seemed to be the 50th pose that dance, and grinned, as a polite smattering of applause rang around the room. Sophie smiled at her, before writing something down on a sheet of paper next to the computer.
"That was good Olivia!" Olivia's smile dropped slightly at the lack of any enthusiastic praise, and Sophie quickly gushed a little about how flexible her right leg was. Giving her a few pointers and tip on her dancing, she sent her to sit with the rest of us, ready for the other girls' turn.
"Stacey?"
"Yeah, I'll be dancing to Rap God, Hip hop." Stacey leg her ponytail swish over her shoulder. As soon as she heard that Y/n was intrigued. If she was good at hip hop, this was gonna be great. That was the only style she'd never done, having absolutely no interest in it. This was going to be fun.
Sorry this is short, I'll be doing a part for each dance (:
