Musical

It was Monday again. That meant there was an assembly. Y/n hated assemblies. They were tedious, and long, and boring and when there was an interesting announcement there was barely any time to process it before the Vice Principle droned on about something else. But today, something stopped her thoughts completely, shocked her nervous system so much she was still sitting in the same spot 10 minutes into the start of class, and Yachi had to come looking for her.

"Okay, everybody." The VP's monotonous voice cut through the chatter at the beginning of the morning.

"EVERYONE SHUT THE HELL UP." Silence descended on the room, and eyes turned towards the stage where a grumpy old man stood fixing his toupee. "Now assembly can begin." Then they sung the school song, sat down while the VP gave another boring speech going over the rules and the math club advisor asked people to join. Then, a representative of the drama club, a third year stepped up to the podium.

"This year we'll be having a musical, the first one at Karasuno High." The third year smiled down as the hall once again erupted into chaos, people turning to chat to their neighbours.

"I know it's exciting." He grinned at the crowd as the noise died down. "And I'm sure you're all wondering what our first musical ever will be." He paused for dramatic effect. He was the Drama Club captain after all.

"This year we will be performing Hamilton, written by Lin Manuel-Miranda!" He let the school's cheers and boos continue, the chatting firing back up. He raised a hand and silence once again descended on the room.

"Casting will begin next week, Wednesday lunch time. Unfortunately, the main two roles have been predetermined. Alexander will be played by one of our own in the drama club, and Eliza will be played by our new Dance captain, who is rumoured to have a good voice too." Y/n finally said something, taking part in the explosion of noise.

"WHAT THE HECK?! WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME?!?!?!" She shrieked, as Yachi hugged her tightly. Y/n spotted Tanaka and Nishinoya looked over at her weirdly, Noya seemed to have a slight red tinge to his face. She turned back around, and whispered something to her new best friend.

"Shh, Yachi the volleyball team doesn't know I dance." She quickly drew back, quietly patting her arm.

"Did you not know about being Eliza Hamilton?" The blonde whispered to her. There was really no need though, as everyone else was talking. The Drama captain, who now had a name (Yuuga Aoyama) had taken his seat again, and the VP was back up.

"Quiet down." There was an audible sigh, but Y/n didn't hear it. She was too busy trying to wrap her head around the fact that now, she had to play a lead role in the school's first musical.

Y/n looked down at her phone, still in shock from this morning. It pinged.

Nishi💖
Hey Y/n, where are you?

Y/n_Sugawara
I have an activity :) Sorry I
can't join you ):

Nishi💖
Eh, it's fine, you really
are busy, aren't you xD

Y/n_Sugawara
Sorry😅

She was at dance practice, and she hadn't eaten all day. Y/n had changed the practice times to lunches, and currently everyone else was sitting down in a circle, chatting, stretching and eating together. She was leaning against a wall in the corner on her phone, texting a guy. She looked back down at the phone and her heart stopped.

Nishi💖
Wasn't the dance
Club practice time changed
to lunchtimes?

She ignored the message, praying for it to disappear. The phone pinged again.

Nishi💖
Hey, I have a question.

Her heartbeat picked up, thudding against her chest. The others were finishing up, so she only had a few minutes at most to sort this out. He could just look through one of the windows and know her secret. Anyone on the volleyball team could. She started to panic, her hands shaking. She caught the phone as it fell out of her trembling grasp.

Y/n_Sugawara
??

Nishi💖
Actually, nevermind :)

She let out a breath, and her pulse returned to normal. She didn't know if that meant he knew, forgot the question or was going to find out and he knew it. But for now, she didn't have to worry about that.

Y/n_Sugawara
Okay, gotta go. Bye!

Nishi💖

Bye <3

Y/n smiled softly and closed the phone, placing it next to her water.

"OKAY EVERYBODY, LISTEN UP." She clapped her hands and started the practice.

Home, finally. She completed her usual routine of doing homework, then flopping on the bed. She heard a faint knock on the door, and knowing it could only be one person, she called out for them to enter.

"So, Eliza Hamilton, huh?" Y/n's older brother walked into her room. She sighed; sometimes she really didn't like him. But she couldn't forget all he'd done for her, she owed him so much.

"I had absolutely no idea." She raked a hand through her hair, frustrated. "And what's with the 'I hear she has an amazing voice?!' I've never even sung for anyone there! I never sung once at school!" She punched the wall next to her, before drawing her fist back and rubbing the blossoming red tenderly.

"Ugh." She leaned back, finally providing Koshi with a chance to talk.

"I dunno, maybe this will be a nice opportunity?" He shrug sheepishly, as she glared daggers at him.

"I don't think so. I haven't done acting since third grade, and who cares if I still sing. A musical? Nope, added to the fact that Eliza kissed Alexander-"

"SHE WHAT?!?!" Koshi interrupted, frantically tugging on her arm, "YOU CANNOT GO IN THAT MUSICAL, YOU HEAR ME YOUNG LADY?" She managed to pry her limb free of his grasp, scooting a little further away.

"Um..." She pointed to him. "Overreaction." He let out a 'harrumph' and crossed his arms over his chest. She rested her hand on his forearm, and smiled at him softly, a genuine curve to her lips.

"I'm going to give it a go."
