Look, I was gonna go easy on you and not to hurt your feelings, Stacey stood in the middle, moving forward, directed at Olivia, lip syncing. Okay, so not her friend.
But I'm only going to get this one chance. So far the lyrics seemed to fit. Hip hop seemed to be her best style, then.
Something's wrong, I can feel it. Just a feeling I've got... She continued lip syncing to it, jumping back on her heel, and body-rolling before popping her wrist and hip out. Damn, so she was good.
Like something's about to happen but I don't know what. She walked back, acting as if she hadn't just pulled that move off, looking like she was contemplating something .
If that means what I think it mean, we're in trouble, big trouble. Her eyes went wide and she stumbled back, though her arms were placed precisely where she wanted them.
And if he is as bananas as you say, I'm not taking any chances. She ran forward and jumped, her foot kicking up and missing Olivia's face by inches. Nice.
You're just what the doctor ordered. Her middle finger flashed out in front of the previous dancer's face, too quick for anyone to react, before she drew back, and popped her chest out then back in.
I'm beginnin' to feel like a Rap God, Rap God
All my people from the front to the back nod, back nod
Now, who thinks their arms are long enough
To slap box, slap box?
They said I rap like a robot, so call me Rap-botStacey was good. Very good. At her style, at least, and she absolutely killed it. The song she chose was 6 minutes, so she had to have quite a bit of stamina to pull it all off, especially with her style as she was jumping a lot. The amount of energy she was putting in to it livened up the audience, and tat the end most of them were clapping along to the beat, as she did some fascinating tricks that Y/n had never seen before. Oh well, hip hop.
Why be a king? She stopped, her hands pushing down her body. Seriously, what was with these girls and them trying to seduce everyone? The effect was still cool nonetheless.
When you can be a god. She stopped, stepping to the side and flinging an arm behind her head, looking the same was her arm was pointing and smirking at her shoulder. She knew just how well she'd done, and so did everyone else.
Good thing: There was no way Olivia would be captain now. Bad thing: It was Y/n's go up next and she had a song barely longer than Olivia's. Although if she let the amount of emotion she felt out like she wanted to, she hoped it and her dancing would be enough to win.
Hang on. Why did she want to captain the team anyway? Was it to impress someone? nope. Who, anyway? Power? Sure as heck not. Attention? Y/n absolutely hated attention so no. Or maybe...
All three? Her parents were never around. The adult Sugawara couple were wealthy, and sure they wanted the best for their children. But their definition of 'best' was different to theirs: when Koshi hadn't become captain of his volleyball team in middle school they all but gave up on him, and even in his third year when he became vice-captain, neither their parents or Koshi cared about approval anymore. But she could still catch the smile on his face when she'd congratulated him.
But her parents had been happy with her. They hadn't paid attention to her mental state when it happened the third time, only yanking her out of school to protect her talents. She could sing, and she'd won many competitions with her music, voice and instruments so her parents were impressed. If she had the power as captain of the dance team, like she was of the swimming team her parents were proud of her, if for a little while. If she could beat the second years, she could gain her parents attention, like whenever she starred in something, or won anything. She could pretend they loved her.
She looked over to where Olivia was sitting... And scrambled back, as fast as she could. Olivia and Stacey's faces were inches apart. Olivia had a hold of Stacey's hair, pulling as the latter growled at her, not wanting to do anything to risk her possible captainship. Liv had no such qualms.
"Girls!" Sophie ran up to them, pushing them apart. "That's not the behaviour I expect from a second year, and especially not a captain." She stared Olivia down, before turning her gaze to Stacey. "You okay?" she was rubbing her head, and looked as if Olivia had actually caused her pain.
"I'm fine." She smiled, and to Y/n's surprise walked over to sit with her.
"You better be good." She whispered, not loud enough for anyone else to hear, "Because the only reason I signed up for captain was to annoy that bitch, and she'd be even more so if you won."
Y/n was shocked, but nodded mutely, hoping Stacey wouldn't be at her throat if she did win. Her upper-class-woman winked at her, before shuffling away to sit somewhere else, alone. Maybe she might be fun to hang around. She turned her gaze to Yachi, who was next to her.
"Hey, Yachi right?" She smiled, and the blonde jumped, looking at her.
"Y-yeah? Y/n right?" She looked nervous again.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to bite." Y/n laughed, and Yachi seemed to relax. "This is the first time I've been to a school in years. It's amazing." She looked up to the ceiling, feeling the other girl's eyes on her.
"Oh! I could be your friend if you want?" She seemed so shy, the offer caught Y/n off guard.
"Oh, yay! Yes please!" A smile spread across her face, and both girls giggled.
"Good luck, I know you're gonna do great." Yachi waved her small hand towards the dance floor, reminding her that she was up next. A wave of nerves instantly washed over her.
"If I'm honest, I hope you win. You seem the nicest." She hugged Y/n, who was caught of guard. She hesitated, before slipping her arms around her.
"Thank you." She said softly. She meant it.
"Y/n?" Sophie's voice commanded quiet from everyone, waiting to see how well the newbie could dance.
