The thought of Y/n's bloodline somehow holding the ability to remember pre-world changes plagued Saiki's mind in every otherwise silent moment. Other than everyone's never ending thoughts of course.
It didn't help that Y/n started missing school more and more often. She was not the type to miss school for little to no reason, so people started to talk.
Rumors started to spread around the school. Some saying she got tied up with the wrong people. Some saying that she was sick. Some wondered if she had gotten hurt. Others wondered if it was a family issue.
Out of everything, Saiki might've believed that it was a family issue. She had mentioned her grandmother was in a mental hospital. Guilt washed over him, wondering if something had happened to her grandmother. All because of him changing the world to fit his likes.
So, he decided to visit her after school that day.
She was usually the kind of person to get the door right away, and not make her visitor wait, however, when his fist met the door that afternoon, a "Hold on!" came from the inside.
He didn't have to wait too long compared to how long it took the average person to get the door, but noticably longer than usual for her. Worry bubbled up inside Saiki, something that he usually did not feel unless it was about someone finding out about his powers. Maybe when it came to someone dying, he would worry as well, but that was rare.
Finally, the door opened, and Y/n's usual smiling face met Saiki's stoic look. There was something off about her smile, but Saiki chose to ignore it for the time being.
"Saiki, hi! What brings you here?" She asked, hoping that he would not stay too long. Only half of her face was visible, the other side hidden by the cracked open door.
"You haven't been to school," Her smile tried to falter, but she did not let it, and smiled sheepishly.
"Uh, yeah, I just wasn't feeling well," It had been a week. Was something really so wrong with her that she was sick for a week? That made Saiki think. Usually, people in the world he had created healed quickly. Had she not, or did she come down with something more serious?
"Why are you hiding your face?" The red head seemed hesitant, but decided that she would show him, and sighed. The door swung the rest of the way open, and Saiki's eyes trailed to the bandage on her left cheek.
"I fell in the kitchen and a knife tried coming for my neck, ha," She sweat dropped, scratching the back of her neck. The pinkette sweat dropped as well, worried for the clumsy girl's well being.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You don't usually miss school," Saiki mumbled, his eyes fixating on the bandage.
"Kusuo Saiki caring about someone?" Y/n smiled and laughed a bit at the thought. "I guess we are making you soft, aren't we? Me and the others?" Saiki shook his head no vigorously, not wanting her to get the wrong idea. Truthfully, they were, but it would take a lot for him to admit it.
"Don't push it," He glared at the girl, but her smile never faded.
-----
It was not long before White Day approached. The day when the boys who received chocolates on Valentines Day gave sweets to someone if they accepted their feelings.
It was a week before White Day. The fast approaching day had been stressing Saiki out for the past week. He was unsure if he should return one of the chocolates he had received. He had gotten two on Valentines day. One by Teruhashi, which he knew was a love chocolate, and one from his friend, Y/n. Y/n's was a gratitude chocolate, but something was itching at the pink haired boy to give her one in return.
Finally, he decided that he should get the chocolate and if he did not want to give it to her, he would just eat it himself.
The pinkette browsed the isles of the shop he chose, looking for the isle that had the seasonal things. They had different things for each season, of course, but was always usually seasonal themed candies. This time, the candies were mostly heart shaped. Flinching at the sight of those, he finally found a package that the container, nor the candies, were heart shaped.
Since he was already at the store, naturally, he searched for the coffee jellies. While searching, he bumped into someone.
That's strange. He usually can hear the persons thoughts and that kept him from bumping into others, but everything was explained when he looked down, seeing the two-color haired girl- Two colors?
Saiki blinked, thinking his eyes had deceived him. Was he really seeing h/c at the roots of Y/n's hair? He assumed he was, because of the panicked look on her face. She scrambled to pick up her beanie, which had fallen off when her butt made impact with the ground.
She avoided Saiki's eyes, pulling the beanie back over her head, making sure it covered the h/c. The pink eyed girl finally made it back on her feet, standing guiltily in front of the pinkette, looking at her feet. Her face was drained of color, and Saiki could see the tears brimming her eyes.
Neither teen knew what to do about the situation they had quite literally bumped themselves into. Y/n took in a deep breath, sighing heavily before speaking.
"So, what are your thoughts?" She mumbled quietly, unsure of what hers were as well. Saiki hesitated. What were his thoughts? Did her hair have something to do with her and her grandmother somehow knowing things weren't normal? He could not see any other explanation.
"I think there is something weird going on around you," He said slowly, choosing his words carefully. Her eyes widened, and she closed them roughly, sighing shakily again, nodding.
"I think so too... do you want to talk about it?" He could barely believe she was just asking that. After all the time he was trying to figure out what was up with her, after one slip up, she was just going to tell him? His heart felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.
