Y/n came into school after break, quickly hearing about some boy who could see ghosts. Intrigued, she tried to find where he was, which was not hard in the slightest since people crowded around him constantly. Y/n patiently waited as he told each girl about their guardian spirit, one by one. Finally, it got to her. Right when Saiki came in and dragged the purple haired guy, who Y/n learned his name was Toritsuka, out of the room.
Y/n followed, but they went into the boys bathroom so she had to stop where she stood. Deciding she would find him later, she went to class.
If she was honest, she was curious beyond belief. She was always interested in any abnormality in the world since she was not sure what had changed it. She tended to cling to anything unusual. A guy who could see ghosts was definitely unusual.
-----
Y/n followed Saiki out the door of the classroom once the school day was over, finding Toritsuka waiting by the door, jumping at the chance to talk to Saiki, but pausing when he saw Y/n was right next him.
"Would you like to hear about your guardian spirit, M'lady?" He asked, bowing. Y/n cringed, but nodded.
"Uh, yeah. I am curious, if what you're saying is true, anyway," Nendou came from the classroom next, begging to hear what his guardian spirit was, going completely ignored by Toritsuka.
"Your spirit is... Wait! You don't have a guardian spirit!?"
"Ha?"
-----
Y/n sulked as Saiki and her walked down their street. They were nearing her home, and the others had departed long ago to. Saiki did not need to read her mind to know she was disappointed that Toritsuka couldn't see a guardian spirit with her.
"Aaah! I really wish he could see something. Anything. I'd even be satisfied with a little puppy like Kaido," Y/n grumbled as she pulled lightly at her hair. Saiki raised a brow, questioning the outburst. He did not understand why she wanted to know it so bad. He had seen the ghosts, and they were nothing special. Like people, except they could pretty much do whatever they wanted.
Actually, maybe that was special. No consequences to anything.
Regardless, her frustration confused him.
"Why do you care so much?" He asked, making her cock her head to the side. Y/n had noticed how rarely Saiki actually talked. He tended to be silent for as long as he could. He would never talk if never directly affected by others, she had assumed. She found it quite strange that he would openly talk to her like that, but let it slide.
"Think about it. Everyone else had one, why don't I? Is there something special about me that I don't know about?" She left the question float in the air, as if it were nothing, but it greatly affected Saiki's well being as she bid him goodbye and disappeared within her home. Saiki was on autopilot as he walked the rest of the way home, thinking about what she had said.
Was she trying to drop some kind of hint that she had powers? He had suspected it, but he was also skeptical. She did not share the... Uniqeness in character that seemed to have come with the abilities he and Toritsuka had. Actually, she didn't stand out in a crowd at all.
When Saiki was young, he noticed how he stood out from the crowd. He hated the attention. So, he used mind control to make his appearance seem normal. In the current time, it was common to have brightly colored hair, upon other things.
Because of the changes he made to the world when he was younger, Y/n did not stand out from the crowd with the few "unique" things about her. She had bright red hair, and styled her uniform differently than the average student. In a normal world, this would catch attention. Not in Saiki's.
Saiki could not help but think about Y/n and what she said for the rest of the night, up until he fell asleep.
