As soon as I boarded the plane, I made my way directly to the lush business class seats. I don't usually spend so much money, but since I have a long flight ahead of me, it seemed fair.  For shorter trips, I usually urge flying economy and saving money because there's no need to pay more when it's only going to be a brief trip. But business class is a game-changer for those taking long flights.

I settled into my seat and prepared myself for the next few hours. From fine dining to movies, it seemed like an easy trip ahead. On the plane's final landing, I gathered my stuff, which included the luggage stowed in the overhead bins, and headed out.

Navigating through immigration with my trusty blue passport in hand, I finally got the all-clear. Next stop: baggage claim. Check-in baggage is the next stop. Naturally, though, since I was among the first to check in, my luggage chose to take its sweet time and was most likely buried beneath everyone else's.

"Finally! My back's killing me," I muttered to myself as I lugged my bags off the carousel and headed for the airport exit.

But as soon as I stepped out, guess who I saw? My friends—Haru, Ray, Emma, and Norman—standing there with grins on their faces, like they'd been counting down the seconds till I arrived.

"HARU, RAY, EMMA, NORMAN! Oh my fucking god, I've missed you guys so much!" I blurted out, feeling my eyes welling up. "How did you even know I was coming back?" I asked, still trying to process it all.

"Aunt M/N filled us in that you were planning to return, so we thought we'd come and pick you up," Ray explained, his grin widening.

After 8 long years, being reunited with them felt surreal. We piled into the car and told our driver to head home.

Back in my room, surrounded by my friends, it felt like no time had passed at all. They settled in, each finding a spot on my bed, just like old times. It was like hitting the reset button on a cherished chapter of my life.

"Hey, Toya, where's Y/N?"

"Oh, she didn't tell you?" he replied nonchalantly, eyes glued to his phone.

"No shit, that's why I'm asking,"

"Oh, she moved back to the US," he dropped the bomb casually, as if it were no big deal.

"She WHAT?"

"I'm not going to say it again, bro. I'm too exhausted," Toya stated bluntly, his attention still fixated on his phone.

"Why did she move?"

"Look, I'm not sure, okay?" Toya stated, his tone tinged with a hint of annoyance.

"Damn, I never even got the chance to confess sooner. Fuck me," I muttered, feeling a wave of regret wash over me.

— Y/N's POV

Surrounded by my favorite childhood memories and pals, I laid on my bed and thought back on the roller coaster of emotions that had led me to this point. Unlike in Japan, I was surprised that I didn't feel like my eyes would burst. Perhaps it was the distraction of being with my closest friends or the comfort of being back home.

"I go back to school tomorrow. My back hurts, and I don't want to move," I sighed, feeling the weight of exhaustion settling in.

"Damn, bro, that's how tired you are?" Haru chimed in, his tone filled with amusement.

"Think about it: you're on a 16-hour flight, just sitting down. Also, when I stand up to use the restroom, the flush gives me anxiety," I explained, a hint of exasperation in my voice.

"LMAO, I can't imagine," Haru laughed, earning himself a playful pillow toss from me.

"Why are you even here? Get out, Haru," I joked, though secretly grateful for his presence.

"Uhm, 'cause I'm your best friend. Now, move it," he retorted, climbing onto my bed and pulling me into a tight hug.

Haru, along with the others, had been my first friends, and I couldn't deny that there had been a time when I harbored a small crush on him. Though I'd long moved on, memories of my childish attempts to hint at my feelings still lingered.

"I was so cringe. It's a good thing I'm different now," I chuckled, shaking my head at my past self.

Closing my eyes, I allowed myself to sink into the warmth of the moment, letting go of the day's stresses as sleep beckoned me into its comforting embrace.
