As prom approached, I couldn't ignore the horrible feeling that everything was simply spiraling out of control. To top it all off, the principal unexpectedly invites me to sing at prom. Double doom.

The mere idea of standing up there, in front of everyone, with all eyes glued on me, made my stomach do somersaults. Sure, I'm fine with singing, but doing so in front of my classmates, under the harsh glare of prom night? It's like a nightmare is occurring right in front of my eyes.

So, when the big day arrived, that sensation of impending doom hung over me like a dark cloud. It was as if fate was playing a cruel joke on me, forcing me to confront my deepest fears in the most public setting possible.

I let out a loud sigh, grasping I had performances planned for today. It was one of those moments when you simply throw your hands up in defeat, realizing that, well, you're just not feeling it. But what can you do, right?

I decided to take my time and arrive late, simply to relax for a while. I mean, I wasn't in the mood to continue hustling and hurrying around like a crazy person.

Fast forward about an hour after prom began, and I finally had my act together. I took my sweet time in the shower, applied some light makeup, and took special care to curl the ends of my hair perfectly. Then there was the dress, which my mother and I spent hours choosing out together, arguing every detail until we found the ideal one.

I finally left for school after getting my bobby pins and hoop earrings in order - you know, the finishing touches. As I walked into the gym after parking my car, I couldn't help but notice that everyone was looking at me. Yeah, I know I'm looking nice, but the attention was still TOO much.

And of course, just my luck, I spot Sakusa and Emiko together. It's like something out of a cliche teen drama – the guy you're crushing on and some random girl, all buddy-buddy. Classic. But hey, I've got bigger things to worry about right now, so I'll just keep on walking.

Eventually, I make it to the principal's office, ready to get this show on. "Hey, ma'am. I'm here," I announce, trying to keep my cool despite the nerves bubbling up inside me.

"Ah, yes, Y/N. Let me just say that you'll be singing songs all night at prom," the principal informs me with this smile like it's no big deal, but let me tell you, it felt like a bombshell.

"All night?!" I blurt out, feeling this surge of panic rising within me. I mean, seriously, I did NOT sign up for this.

"Yep, all night," she confirms, no hesitation in her voice.

Another sigh escapes my lips, and I just shake my head. I was too exhausted to even try to argue. I guess I'm just too drained to fight it.

As I try to gather my thoughts and calm my nerves, I start planning out what I'm going to sing. I focus on picking songs that really mean something to me, ones I can really pour my heart and soul into.

"I'll start with 'Happier' by Olivia Rodrigo," I tell them, hoping my song choice will hit the right notes with the crowd.

— Third person's POV

As Sakusa's gaze settles on Y/N, he feels a tiny jolt move through his body, his breath catching. She is incredibly beautiful, a vision of elegance and grace that left him in awe. Her hair is perfectly tidy, framing her face with beautiful waves, and her makeup highlights her features flawlessly. The dress she wears embraces her curves in all the right places, with the color complimenting her skin tone and highlighting her dazzling attractiveness.

"Wow," Sakusa mumbles, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes never leaving Y/N's form.

"For real," Emiko responds, her tone filled with genuine admiration, though Sakusa barely registers her words as he remains captivated by Y/N.

"There's no denying that she's the best looking in here," Emiko continues, her eyes following Sakusa's gaze to Y/N.

Sakusa nods in agreement, though his mind is elsewhere, consumed by thoughts of Y/N.

Sakusa's chest fills with admiration as he takes in the scene in front of him. He can't help but admire Y/N's effortless style, with each step expressing confidence and composure.

However, underlying the appreciation is a faint pain of jealousy, a throb of need that he can't shrug off. As he observes Y/N talk with others, he can't help but feel a twinge of envy, knowing that he isn't the only one who has been attracted by her allure.

"You know, Omi, if you don't make a move soon, someone else might sweep her off her feet," Emiko remarks, her tone teasing but with a hint of sincerity.

"I know, but she needs space right now."

Sakusa's heart skips a beat at the thought, the realization hitting him like a ton of bricks.

Despite the conflicting feelings churning within him, Sakusa is unable to take his attention away from Y/N. She stands out like a beacon in the throng, capturing everyone's attention.

As he continues to watch her move around the room with ease, a part of Sakusa can't help but wish to be standing by her side, soaking in her beautiful light. But for the time being, all he can do is admire her from a distance, silently appreciating the beauty and grace that is unique to Y/N.
