i woke back up pretty quickly, in the back of a car. i looked to the left of me, where elena laid, still passed out. her phone happened to be in my clutch, where i had it for safekeeping before we arrived at the party. i saw that it was blowing up with texts and missed calls from all her friends, so i quickly silenced it before our captors heard it.
opening it, i sent a quick text to damon.elena: this is b. elena is passed out, my neck was snapped. we're driving somewhere. track this phone to follow us.
damon: k.as soon as i received a reply, i turned on the find my iphone option and placed the phone in the hidden pockets my dress had. as i did, the car slowed to a halt and i quickly pretended to be dead again as the trunk opened. i was slung over someone's shoulder with ease, which led me to believe that these were vampires that had kidnapped us.
a creaky door was opened, and me and elena were tossed onto a couch. i waited until i could hear their footsteps go into a different room, and immediately sat up and turned towards elena, shaking her.
"wake up you idiot!" i hissed quietly and she finally groaned, opening her eyes slowly.
"where are we? what happened?" she looked at the old house we were in, and we both turned as our two kidnappers walked back in.
"you, my dear, are going to help us be free. sit tight, don't try anything, or i will snap your neck." the male threatened her, and with a wave of my hand, the boards covering the windows flew off, and sunlight poured into the room. the two vampires were forced to retreat into a corner, and i slowly stalked towards them.
"that wasn't very polite. let's try that again. who are you, and why did you take us?" i asked menacingly.
"we'll tell you, if you put the boards back. i'm sorry, i didn't know you were a heretic." the girl finally spoke, and my eyes widened as i recognized her.
"ah! rose! you don't remember me, but i sure know who you are." i said, audibly upset. i waved my hands, and we were once again in a relative darkness. "you helped katerina escape the mikaelsons. that was long in the past, but i bet they still see you as traitors, and you're still running. so why did you take us?" i compelled, and out of the corner of my eye, i saw that elena was astounded at the shows of magic i had just displayed.
"you were just in the way so we took you too. elena is a petrova doppelgänger, the key to breaking the sun and moon curse. we want to use her as a bargaining chip for our freedom." rose admitted, and i stepped back.
"see? that wasn't so hard now, was it?" i turned to trevor. "who are you trying to give elena too?" i compelled him next, and the answer he gave made my stomach sink.
"elijah, the original vampire."
silently, i went back to the couch next to elena, where she started bombarding me with questions.
"you can do magic? what's a heretic? how did you compel another vampire? are you okay?"
"yes, a vampire witch hybrid, i'm special, and sure." i answered. "get ready. if what they are saying is true, elijah will be here soon. and you do not want to mess with him." i looked at rose and trevor, who looked equally as frightened as i. but what they didn't know was that i was scared for a very different reason. because who wouldn't be scared to face someone they care about so much, and haven't seen for over 600 years?
"he's here! rose, are you sure about this?" trevor asked in a panicked tone a few minutes later, startling elena and i. she had gotten a paper from bonnie saying that damon and stefan were on the way.
"trevor. it will be okay, we're family." she reassured him. "you two, wait here." she looked back at us before going to the door.
"get ready ela." i said, deciding on a nickname then and there. she looked at me in surprise, then hugged me quickly as we stood up.
"thanks brit." i focused my hearing as rose told elijah that they had gotten a doppelgänger, and my breath halted as i heard his voice again. god, how i had missed it.
i was so lost in thought for a moment that i didn't realise he and rose were walking into the room where me and elena stood. i heard her heartbeat drastically increase, and i'm sure if my heart still beat, it would've done the same as i refocused on my surroundings only to see a beheaded trevor and crying rose. elijah then turned his attention to us.
"impossible." he muttered, speeding right in front of elena. "human." he stated at her for a few more seconds, then turned to me. "and who are you?" he asked coldly.
"ela's self proclaimed protector, which basically means i was too close when they kidnapped her, so they had to take me too! nice to meet you." i hid the hurt i was feeling, knowing that it shouldn't be there. i, after all, was the one that compelled him.
"your name." he tried to compel me, and i decided to play along.
"brit. also, you aren't taking elena anywhere. you'll have to get through me first." i smirked, and kicked him across the room. he immediately was back on his feet, and right as he was about to lunge, elena yelled.
"wait! i know where the moonstone is!" elijah stopped himself from leaping at me, and we both turned towards her, me in shock, and him in interest.
"are you insane?" i complained after he ripped off her necklace, finding out it was in the tomb. "you are so dumb." i shook my head as elijah got ready to speed out with her, until there was a crash from upstairs. it seemed as if the salvatore saviors had arrived.
"excuse me! to whom it may concern, you're making a big mistake if you think you can beat me! you can't." elijah yelled, holding me and elena right next to him.
"i never knew you became dramatic." i muttered, then realised what i said.
"what do you me-" before he could interrogate me further, i felt myself being whisked away. stefan had pulled me up the stairs, where he handed me vervain and a stake, which i knew was useless, but chose not to say anything for now.
"you have a lot of explaining to do later." he muttered, and we watched as elena went down first, throwing the vervain bomb. as expected, elijah quickly recovered, and i sighed as i hurled the stake through his knee.
"i don't want to hurt you, eli. just give up." i didn't realise i used my old nickname for him, and he froze as he stared at me.
"eli..." he said, then gasped out as a coatrack flew through his chest, damon taking advantage of the momentary stillness. grey veins covered his body, and he hung from the wall.
"brit! you have so much you need to tell us." damon started, and i held my hand up.
"i give you my word that i'll explain properly when i get back home. you guys go now, i'll catch up with you. there's a few bodies i need to take care of first." i said, gesturing towards elijah and trevor.
"just leave them! nobody will find them." he argued, and i shook my head.
"elijah, while powerful, is not the strongest. he's working for someone much more powerful, who will come looking for him when he doesn't report back with ela. they're going to track elijah, only to find his dead body with your fingerprints and scent all over the weapon that killed him. no. i'm going to burn all evidence of us being here." i explained, knowing they'd understand. "i know i've been hiding my magic side for a while, and i will explain my story later. now go home, patch up, take care of elena."
agreeing, they left the house. i waited until i could no longer hear the car before i started moving again. i brought trevor's head and body outside, and dig a shallow grave.
"incendia." i held my hand out, and ten minutes later, there was nothing but ash. i buried those too, and walked back in the house to wait for elijah to wake up. i didn't have to wait long, because the second i walked in, i was slammed against the wall by him, held up by only his hand around my throat.
"who. are. you." he growled, and i pushed him to the other side of my room with a burst of energy. i cleared my throat a bit before i looked back up at him.
"long time, no see, eli." i smirked. "you'll remember me eventually, when i allow you. for now-" i sped right in front of him and looked into his eyes. "forget any suspicion you have of me other than the fact that i was with elena and the salvatores today. do not move from this spot until you can no longer hear me. we'll meet again soon, i'm sure. toodles!" i stepped back, watching as he didn't move a muscle, although he was obviously straining to do so. i turned around, and started the run home. i had some explaining to do.
