i was rudely awoken the next morning by my window shattering.

"what the hell?" i yelled, already alert and on my feet.

"you weren't answering your door, and i'm not invited in, so i did the second best thing." damon yelled up at me.

"and that was break my bedroom window? seriously?" i yelled back.

"you're magic, you can fix it. when you're done, come to our house! we're going on a road trip!" before i could ask him to elaborate, he sped off, and i groaned angrily.

after fixing my window and getting ready, i ran to the salvatore house.

"so what do you mean road trip?" i queried after stepping in, seeing damon and elena getting ready to go as well. ironically, we were all wearing similar outfits, leather jackets and jeans. i snorted as i saw this, and the other two seemed to realise as well.

"well, we have to go visit a special someone up in denver-" damon started, and i heard enough.

"nope, no way, i am not coming along." i started walking towards the door, but damon sped in front of me.

"please brit? we need you, not only because you're our friend and we miss you, but because you can help us." damon pleaded. "i'll kill kol, temporarily obviously, if he bugs you."

reluctantly, i agreed, and we were off. i laid down in the backseat of damon's car, lost in my head as he and elena conversed in the front. without realizing it, i was spinning designs in the air with golden trails of magic, watching as they faded a few seconds after coming from my fingertips.

eventually, we arrived outside some batting cages, where elena arranged to meet up with jeremy.

"god, first time in denver for over a century and i look like shit." i complained as we walked towards jeremy.

"you look fine, just a little-"

"tired." elena quickly cut off damon before he said something insensitive. "you look tired."

as she and damon went to talk to jeremy, i stood back, getting lost in my head again. it was rather hard for a vampire to look worse for wear, but i had somehow managed to do that. it wasn't surprising to me, seeing as i've only had 2 blood bags and barely any sleep.

"look, my friend is here now, okay elena? i've gotta go." jeremy gestured to behind me, and i turned to see the face i most wanted to see but also the face i wanted to avoid with every fiber in my being.

"damon, it's kol!" elena stated obviously, and i rolled my eyes.

"no shit." i hid my emotions and pulled the two gilberts back as damon started fighting him. i winced as damon managed to overpower him, staking him with a broken baseball bat. before kol completely desiccated, his eyes met mine, and i stared blankly back as the grey covered the entirety of his face.

"you guys go. i'm gonna wait here until he wakes up." i decided impulsively, and damon looked at me like i was crazy. which i probably was.

"why would you want to do that? i thought you didn't want to talk to him." elena asked, and i shrugged.

"maybe i do want to. just go on, i'll make sure he's not pissed and ready to rip out all of our hearts, then i'll meet back up with you guys." they left, and i sat on the ground next to kol, pulling the wood out of his chest quietly.

it took about half an hour before he stirred, the grey fading into his normal skin tone. i didn't notice, because i was preoccupied fixing the baseball bat in mid-air, the wooden pieces floating around me.
