i must have fallen asleep, because kol shook me awake the next morning.

"good morning love. want to help me stop impending doom?" he asked softly, and i groaned.

"i just woke up. already?" i sat up, and he nodded.

"they want jeremy to kill a bunch of vampires so his mark grows, so we're going to beat him to it and kill them first!" he explained, and i shook my head.

"kol. i am not killing."

"you don't have to, you just need to tell me when damon and the hunter are coming so i can be dramatic." he did jazz hands, and i rolled my eyes, laughing.

"fine. let's go." we got ready, and kol drove us to a bar. i could hear the restless new vampires inside, and tried to forget the fact that they were innocents as i slammed the doors open, lifting the curtains so they would all scurry into the shadows.

"they're coming!" i yelled about half an hour later.

"perfect timing, i just finished. come on, let's hide." he pulled me into the walk in freezer, and i complained quietly before he shushed me. we listened to damon and jeremy as they walked in, seeing all the dead bodies.

"who did this?" damon muttered, and kol stepped out.

"i'll confess, i did it." he said with fake contrite, and damon whirled around. "sorry about the mess. ugh, it was a little crowded when i arrived, and i prefer more intimate gatherings. the four of us need to have a little chat." he told them.

"four?" jeremy clarified, and i stepped out next.

"hey damon, hey jeremy. long time no see." i muttered.

"seriously? you're one of the bad guys now?" damon yelled, and kol glared.

"do not yell at my girlfriend like that-"

"girlfriend?" he asked, and kol smiled.

"yes. girlfriend. talk to her like that again and i'll rip your heart out." he threatened. "back to business! my brother has been bragging about trying to complete the hunters mark on jeremy, and it wasn't too hard to find all these new vampires and kill them. you see, by completing the mark, you risk finding and raising something more... dangerous." kol explained.

"silas. i'm sure you don't know all that much about him, but see here- if he's raised, he'll trigger the end of time. and since we're all immortal and happy, i don't think we want any times ending." i continued on. "you seriously want to risk all that for a stupid cure?"

"look brit, we are friends, despite the fact you went completely off the grid for a month with kol. i respect you, but i'm not going to call off this hint because kol told you a scary story." damon refused.

"and neither will i." jeremy stood defiantly.

"well, i'll just rip off your arms." with a snarl, kol rushed at jeremy, but damon immediately jumped in the way and the two began to fight. i pulled jeremy out of harms way, outside the bar.

"go home, jeremy." i demanded.

"do you really believe kol? about silas?" he asked me.

"jer, i don't know. if this cure is real, then i'm sure silas is too. why risk all that for a cure to vampirism? what vampire needs a cure that badly?" i asked.

"elena." jeremy shrugged, and i gaped at him.

"elena's a vampire?" i shrieked. i sped back in the grill, where kol had started to subdue damon. "neither of you told me one of my best friends is a vampire now? i'm going to the grill so i can talk to her, try not to kill each other. bye!" i yelled, and ran back to jeremy. "i'm going to the grill. here's my car keys, try not to crash." after tossing him the keys, i sped off to find elena.

at the grill, i walked in to see matt, but no elena.

"matt! i strode over. "do you know where elena is? i need to talk to her."

"brit, good to see you again, i think she just went to klaus' place. something about kol and damon." he told me, and i yelled a quick thank you before running to the alley. i closed my eyes, and apparated straight into the living room of the mikaelson mansion, startling klaus and elena, who just walked in.

"elena!" i ran over and gave her a huge hug. "i am so sorry for not knowing you were turned, and not being here or reachable to talk to you. are you okay, are you transitioning well?" i held her back as i looked her over.

"i'm okay, it's alright. it's hard, but i've somewhat come to terms with it." she shrugged.

"but she will become human again after we get that cure." klaus said, and i turned to him, hugging him as well.

"hi, sorry, nice to see you as well. i mainly came here to see elena, but i know what she wants to talk to you about. kol's acting up again, i think he has damon right now?" i said, and she stared at me.

"you didn't stop him? who knows what he could do to him!" she yelled.

"he won't kill damon, he knows i'd be insanely upset at him, don't worry. damon will be okay." i consoled her.

"but what about jeremy? we need him for the mark, and kol doesn't care at all for that." she turned to klaus. "i'm here to ask you to tell your brother to stop." she said seriously, and i laughed a bit.

"not a single please, elena?"

"you're in no position to make demands." klaus told her.

"you and i have the same goal, for me to become human again. call kol off." seeing the sense in that, klaus agreed, calling him.

"... and you will not hurt the gilbert boy. agreed?" klaus said at the end of his call to kol, and i listened.

"i give you my word that i will not lay my hand on him." my eyes narrowed, and i had a feeling i knew what he was going to do.

elena left the house satisfied, and i turned to klaus.

"i have a proposition for you." i began, and he raised his eyebrow.

"go on."

"for an hour or two, ignore all the drama here in mystic falls. let's paint something. for old times sake? i miss doing art with you." he smiled at my words, and nodded.

"for old times sake."

an few hours later, a beautiful landscape of the mystic falls forest was completed. we stood back, admiring the work we completed in serenity, and i smiled softly. both of our ears pricked as doors opened from downstairs, kol and rebekah's voices carrying up. they were arguing.

"there goes our peace. let's head down, yeah?" klaus sighed, and i agreed, following after him.

"i won't let you raise silas." i heard kol's voice say in a deadly calm tone, and i sped in the room to see him pointing a stake at rebekah's heart. looking closer, i noticed it was white oak infused with some sort of metal. klaus pulled kol away as i stared at him in shock.

"enough of this foolishness. put it down, kol." klaus demanded his younger brother, who only stared in contempt at him before speeding out of the house.

"beks, are you okay?" i turned my attention to my friend, who hugged me.

"he tried to kill me!" she cried.

"so then do a better job at daggering your siblings." klaus said sarcastically, and she pulled away, glaring.

"rot in hell." and with that, she left the house.

"i'm going to find kol and see if i can calm him down. will you be alright?" i asked klaus tentatively, and he shrugged, still looking upset.

"just go." he walked off, and i left the house. i wandered the streets for an hour, unsuccessful in finding kol. with a resigned sigh, i walked back to my house.
