whatever plans i had for sleeping had completely gone away after i got the rundown from both stefan and damon.

"so let me get this straight- when i was gone, klaus came back, managed to unlock his hybrid curse, elena didn't die from it, bonnie did die but came back, the mikaelsons all are alive, even esther, stefan turned off his emotions but they're somewhat back on, he also pissed off the whole original family after being buddy buddy with klaus, tyler is a hybrid, and the mikaelsons want to live here?" i blinked in shock.

"not necessarily in that order, but yeah, basically." damon said, and i put my head in my hands.

"i need a moment." i muttered. "see you tomorrow, or later today, whatever." i sped out of the house, and decided to take a walk around. i ended up at the hospital where i saw elena leaving with matt. the latter drove away, and elena got into her car, and i gasped as i saw a blonde girl speed behind it, causing elena to hit her before speeding behind a tree.

"rebekah." i whispered quietly. i winced as she came back to elena, choking her, but before she could do more damage, elijah appeared, causing her to speed away. after elena drove off, i sped to elijah, stopping in front of him.

"i need to talk to you." i rushed out.

"and why would that be?" he asked, beginning to walk towards the town center.

"i've heard you were one to give good advice, yes?" i followed him; and we were now walking side by side down the dark streets of mystic falls.

"that has been said about me, but it depends."

"okay then, here goes nothing." i took a deep breath. "how mad would you be if someone who you cared for as much as you'd care for a sibling made it so that you'd forget they existed and how important you were to them and how important they were to you? like, say you spent most of your childhood having deep discussions with this person, getting to know their way of thought. and they just, made you forget them and vanish for the rest of your life? and unexpectedly, years and years later, you run into them, and they make you remember them? what would you do?" he looked at me quizzically.

"i have a feeling that this is something you're dealing with? did a loved one make you forget them?" he asked, and i let out a little huff of laughter.

"sure, let's say it's about me. i just want to know how you would feel if someone did that to you." we reached the town center, and he led me over to a bench, where we sat facing each other.

"i would be upset at first, i think. but after a moment, i would think about why they did it, and if it was for a good reason. did this person tell you why they made you forget them?" he queried.

"they were scared. scared that if they stayed with y- with me, they would end up doing bad things. apparently, they were always watching me, wether it be by spies reporting back to them or hiding in the shadows." i stuttered.

"that sounds like a valid reason. if they explained that to me, and showed that they truly did care, and that's why they left? then i would be happy that they let me remember them, instead of harboring anger." he finished, and i had tears in my eyes.

"in that case..." i sniffled quietly, but he saw i was crying.

"why are you crying?"

"look at me, elijah. look into my eyes." my voice cracked a bit, and i held his face. "any compulsion i previously placed on you will vanish. remember everything about me, about how i was a part of your childhood. remember that i was with your family when we were turned, remember everything. do not be overwhelmed." i compelled, undoing everything from him before. i stood up and ran a few feet back as he sat there, and i watched as the memories returned to his head.

"i am so, so, sorry." i apologized in a broken whisper as he looked up to me, his eyes mixed with resent, sadness, happiness, and confusion. he stood up, and walked over to me.

"brit. brit kaldottir." he spoke my full name, and i looked at him.

"hi eli." i cracked a small smile, and immediately, his arms were pulling me to his chest, and i sighed in relief as i hugged him back. we stayed in that position for a good amount of time, both of us not wanting to pull away. a loud cough startled us, and we quickly turned to see rebekah.

"and who the bloody hell are you?" she asked. "elijah's temporary blood bag? no, your heart doesn't beat. so, servant? that's a new one, 'lijah. at least as far as i know." i was smiling widely.

"i missed you so much." i said, causing her to stare at me, confused.

"i don't even know your name!"

"brit, you can let her remember too. out of all of us, rebekah won't be upset at all." elijah said.

"remember what? what are you on about?" the blonde quizzed, and i looked at her. i grabbed her face, and before she could pull away, i repeated the same compulsion i had to elijah moments before, and watched as she fully remembered too.

"oh my god, brit!" she breathed out, and i was quickly enveloped in another strong mikaelson hug. i laughed as i hugged back, and she held my shoulders. "i think i like you better with short hair, you look hot!" i rolled my eyes as elijah laughed a bit.

"well, i just got back from traveling, so i'm going to go back home for now. i've made you two both remember me, and while i'm glad you hold no anger toward me, do you think it will be the same for kol, klaus, and finn?"

"kol has been... nothing but angry ever since the first time klaus daggered him, and the fact that he was left desiccated for so long since the last time means he's extra upset since we let him out last night." elijah began. "i'm sure finn will be glad to see you again, he's been left daggered the longest. still thinks and acts as he did a thousand years ago." i smiled at that.

"and what of nik?" i noticed how they hadn't said much about their brother.

"nik... he's changed. he's no longer the carefree boy who you painted with, or the scared boy you comforted and protected from mikael. he's angry. still scared, but paranoid and irrational. he cares more about himself and his personal gains more than anything." rebekah sadly replied, and i sighed. "your best bet would be to break it to him at a time where he is calm. he'll be mad that you abandoned him because he's so scared of everyone in his life doing just that, which is why-"

"which is why he wants the hybrids so badly." i realized, and the two nodded. "well, i'm sure i will face them sooner or later. i'm glad i talked to you two both tonight. see you around." i grinned lightly, and sped off, leaving the two siblings standing in the middle of mystic falls.
