*The actual beginning of the story, flashback to how we got to the last chapter*

"Adira there you are!"

I hear a familiar voice behind me. "Marie!" I exclaim. I embrace her with delight as she tightens her grip. "Is it true you are becoming a servant for the king?" Mia questions. I nod and smile widely. "Isn't it like a dream? I got an invitation from the king himself! Apparently he wants me to work as his personal servant!" Mia and I jump in joy but settle down quickly because we realise we have been obnoxious.

"Well I must bring you there! I'm so excited that we can both work there together. Its been so long since I last saw you." I nod in agreement. "Well come on then, we need to set you up with all the rules and commitments." I follow her through the grand halls of the castle. Its walls were scattered with gold and historical paintings of family members. "So I need toward you about a few things." I gaze around the top levels of the castle and catch my eye on someone. He was leaning on the railing staring at me with gawking eyes.

I stared curiously as we maintained eye contact. He smirked slyly, eating an apple that he twirled in his hand. He winked and I quickly looked away embarrassed. I keep walking with Marie, noticing she has moved on quickly. "Anyway that's all you need to know about the castle." she concludes. I nod, making notes of everything she had said. "Well Ill escort you to your room and I'll come and get you tomorrow morning.

I trace my fingers along the walls not he way up the stairs, my eyes examining each corner of the castle. We reach the top floor and walk to a room with a sapphire star. "The king instructed that you must stay in this room, you're really lucky. No one else is allowed on the top level, just you sand the king up here." I study the room. I gasped in astonishment as I look at the art filled masterpiece of a room. The four poster bed had silky blue covers and enough pillows for 10 people."I'll leave you to it then." I waved Marie goodbye as I continued observing all the parts of the room.

"You like the room?" I hear a new voice from behind me. I jump, surprised there was someone there. I turn around and look at the man leaning on the door. The same man as before. He starts to take slow steps towards me, I stay still trying to hold my ground but I am corned near the wall. He keeps his hands behind him and continues to eye me up and down as if he was seeing me naked. I watch him as he stands so close to me that I can hear his breathing. His face is inches from mine, I continue to stare at him in the eyes, he seems pleased.

"Normally girls get shy and turned on when I corner them." He says confidently. I show my disgusted expression as I say, "Why would I do that?" He scoffs surprised. He leans in closer, staring at my lips, our nose almost touching. I can see his soft freckles and his dainty eyelashes in detail. "Feel anything?" I ask, feeling confused why he has stayed so close to me for so long. He laughs and slams his hands on the wall either side of me. "You'll be fun to play with." He says slyly, lifting my chin with his hand, pressing my bottom lip with his thumb.

"Does this normally work on other girls?" I ask mockingly. He rolls his eyes and pushes a hair behind my ear. "You're different. I promise you that you'll fall in love with me." I laugh jokingly, convinced that he was joking. "You're serious?" I realise that he was a real prick. He stares into my eyes with deep confusion as he caresses my cheek. I twitch, repulsed by his actions. "Okay I think I'm done with this." I try to push away from him but he slams my head to the wall.

He places his hand on my neck, looking down on me like a peasant. "I tell you what you do and don't do. do you understand?" I bite my bottom lip until it starts to bleed. He seems shocked and wipes my lip with his finger, licking the blood off. "Why did you do that?" I stare at him until he realises why. He laughs like a maniac. "You want me to know you aren't afraid of pain, right?"  I nod slowly, realising he isn't as dumb as I thought.

"You intrigue me Adira." The way he says my name revolts me. The way it slides off of his tongue so smoothly, like silk. I lift my hand, he watches my movement with confusion. I place my hand onto of his hand that grips my neck. He relaxes, my touch seemed to have made him feel less tense and distracted him in some way. "Why?" he asked. I move away from him, he watches me sit on the bed away from him. "Aggression isn't a way to make friends you know." He nods and laughs, standing over me near the bed.

He lifts my chin to force my eyes to meet his. He bends down and licks his thumb, wiping the leftover blood from my lip. I watch as he struts to the door. "I will see you soon Adira." I wipe my lip, feeling both confused and intrigued at the same time.
