Silus pov

"Damien! Get up you lazy ass!" I smack the pillows on his head. He groans and throws one of the pillows at me. "You're coming to the ball I'm hosting!" I shout at him. He nods and points at the door. "Ok I will come to your ball." I smile, knowing I always get my way."Aaaaand you're bringing g that woman you're seeing with you." He flinches, suddenly awake from his slumber. He glares daggers at me, I don't exactly know which buttons of his I pushed.

"Ok I'm glad that's settled." I walk out of the room and continue on with my day.

Damien POV

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. I shouldn't have told him I liked someone. I'm so dumb. I jump out of bed and pick up my pen.

Dear my love,

I need a favour from you, my brother is holding a ball and I need a date. You still owe me a favour Aso I'm reclaiming it now. I hope this letter gets to you before the ball and I will explain all the details when you arrive. Do not tell your mother or anyone at all, if you do that will ruin the entire plan. See you soon.

Yours truly,

D

Adira POV

I watch as the ball room becomes decorated over the course of the week. I watch in awe as they lift the chandeliers and set out the food. Silus sneaks me biscuits during the day and for each on I give him a kiss. I guess he's sweet in some ways. It is now the night of the ball and I have to get ready. I sit in my chair, watching the maids do my hair, prepare my dress, do my makeup and get me ready. I stare in amazement at my dress.

I slip my fingers over the silk and the decor. I watch as they pull on the corset strings and my breath is literally taken away. They all stare at me in approval and say that i'm ready. I come out of my room and slowly go down the stairs. I gaze over the room and to the amount of people that are staring at me. There must be at least 150 people just in this room. I catch my eye on Silus talking to someone and look over to me.

His eyes shimmer and he walks over to the bottom of the stairs. I look for him. I catch my eye on his glistening hair, he isn't looking at me, I glance to who he's looking at. She's beautiful. This must've been the woman he's fallen for. She has amazing green eyes and pale skin that complimented her auburn hair. She wore a green floral dress that was breathtaking. I'm such an idiot.

I remind myself  of my true desire and stare at Silus once more. I take his arm and we walk into the ball room. I greet people left and right as the women stare at me with jealous eyes. "ignore them." Silus whispers in my ear and I nod. "Can we dance?" I ask, wanting to stop standing like a tree. He seems excited and we join the next dance. I start to dance with him, I spin and spin and spin, our movements in sync, perfect. I switch partners, ending up with a duke as we dance into the next switch.

I feel my breath steady, my nerves washing away and I switch for the last time. I look up at my partner and oh no. It's the man himself. "Hello love." I ignore him and continue dancing, hoping the song ends soon. I move to the rhythm, his hand steady on my was it and he lifts me up as we continue the dance. He stares at me, while I stare away. "Why aren't you looking at me?" he asks innocently.

I glare at him. "I'm not sure what you mean sire." I return to the formalities. He seems shocked, as if I was the one who Brought someone to the ball. "What is up with you?" I stare at him in disbelief. I scoff and continue dancing. I make eye contact with Silus and he seems angry. He hates when Damien touches me, let alone be near me. I nod to Silus and he calms down slowly. "That woman you brought is extremely beautiful, no wonder you're in love with her."

He looks at me calmly, groaning in annoyance. I cannot be seen as weak. "Its fine, I'm happy for you." I smile as genuine as I can and I see it hurts him. "I'm sure you'll make great parents, your children will be so beautiful. The song ends. I try to walk way but he grabs my arm. "Don't make this about you." he says warning me. "I don't know what you're talking about." I say innocently returning to Silus.

"Hey," I say kissing him on the cheek. He returns the kiss but on the lips. "You done with dancing?" he asks, realising i'm annoyed. "I wanna dance with just you." I plead. He smiles and asks for a song. We make our way to the centre of the room and begin dancing. His arms squeeze my waist and our heads rest on each others. "You make me happy Adira." I smile, looking up at him. "You make me happy too." I kiss him, he softens the kiss, placing a hair behind my ear.

The ball ends and everyone seems exhausted. Silus takes off my shoes and I feel relieved. He carried me outside into the garden. "Silus what are we doing?" I stare at him, happily confused. "We are going to stargaze my love." My love, maybe it runs in the family. I nod and we lay peacefully on the grass, staring at the star filled sky. "Its so beautiful" I saw, entranced by the sky. "It really is" he says, staring at me.

"I think I'm in love with you Adira." I stare in shock, not knowing what to say or how to feel. "You don't need to answer me now, I want you to mean it when you say it." For some reason that comforts me. Maybe he really does love me, if he does then I feel relieved. My plan is working. "I just need a little more time, is that okay?" I ask. He nods, caressing my cheek, kissing me lightly. That night I slept in his arms, comforted by the scent of love, deceit and power.
