Chapter Twenty Two: Axel

As soon as the gunshot goes off, I hear someone scream and I can't tell who it is. I panicked to make sure it wasn't Mandy. Then as I go to grab her I hear an expose going off. I don't know where it came from, and now I'm full-on panicking. All I could think of was Mandy. So I grabbed her and ran. I don't know where I'm running but I'm trying to get away. I can hear someone crying and the rest are yelling. I turn back and I see everyone else running, and no one is going in the same direction. Mandy stops running and yells for her brother. I try to grab her again but she fights back. "Mandy, we HAVE to go." He is fine. I saw him take off running and let go." She is still resisting, so I pick her up and run. I won't stop running till the voices stop. I finally put her down. And We both sit together.

"What the hell just happened?" Mandy asks me, she looks tired and worried. And honestly so am i.

"Mandy, honestly I don't know. I heard the gunshot. My heart sunk, I thought it was you, then I realized it wasn't. Then the explosion went off and my first thought was to grab you and then I just took off running." I'm having a hard time looking at her as I say all this. I'm pretty sure I put myself out there too much, but I don't care right now. Then I finally look at her, and she looks shocked. And I can't tell if it's because of what just happened or not. So I panic and I go on. "Oh god, sorry if that came out wrong. Ugh, I'm stupid. I noticed you a lot in section 3 and when I saw you guys in trouble, I had this rush come over me and I felt like I had to help you, so that's what I did. And ever since we have been on this journey I've felt the same feeling, that's why I'm always there when you need me. Ah shit. "Now I'm babbling, great-" as I go to continue she cuts me off and goes "oh for god's sake" and all of the sudden her lips are on mine and they stay on there for a while, then she pulls away and goes " Now did that make you shut up," she asked me with a smirk on her face, and I can't help but smile.

"Did that kiss have feelings in it or was it just to make me shut up," I asked her, and I'm kinda scared to hear her answer.

She smiles at me and goes "I don't know Axel, you tell me"

"Well, if you're asking me. That kiss felt like you felt something too" I say looking her dead in the eye. And instead of responding, she is right back on top of me. And honestly, I wish we could stay like this forever.

"I'm tired. We can look for them tomorrow" she says. And as soon as I think she is going to get up and move. She gets closer to me and crawls into my arms. She lays her head on my chest and falls asleep.
