Chapter Twenty Three: Mandy

As I wake up, I realize that Axel is already awake.

"Good morning, I didn't want to wake you," he says. After he says that he kisses me

"So are you my Peeta to Katniss now?" I say to Axel

"Only if you want me to be," Axel says, with a smile on his face. And for a second i all my troubles go away, and I feel like I have someone who is finally mine and that cares about me. I feel like having fun with this and messing with him.

"Well, I guess we will never know, so let's go find the others," I say to him as I get up. He doesn't say anything, he just gets up. I wait till he is completely up. I spin around and march at him, grab his shirt and pull him down and kiss him.

"So was that a yes or something?" Axel says.

"It sure was," I say to him

"So do we tell the group or no?" he says to me with a smile on his face.

"Also I don't want your brother to kill me for dating you," He says to me

"Well, maybe we should give it a minute and take it easy around them? And i'll talk to him at some point" I say to him

"Okay sounds good. Now let's go find the other" as he says this. He grabs my hands and holds them.

As we are walking, Axel stops.

"Oh my god," I say. I look ahead and there is a body on the ground. My heart stops. I let go of Axel and run towards it. I'm praying to God it's not my sister. Axel is running behind me. "God, please don't let that be Eva," I say almost in a cry. Axel turns the body over. "It's not her. It's the other girl" axel says and he holds me. A wave of relief hits me. Then a voice comes out of nowhere and goes.

"Her name was lily" I turn and see Derek laying against a tree. His eyes are bloodshot, he has blood all over him. I panic again and get up and run to him.

"Oh god, Derek. Are you hurt? What happened. Where is everyone, can we help?" I ask him, and he doesn't say anything for a second. I look at him, and I've seen that look before. It's pure anger and hatred.

"We were walking. A gunshot went off. Hit her in the back, then an explosion. Everyone took off. I couldn't move though. I grabbed her and pulled her aside. I tried to heal her. I really did. But there was nothing I could do. So I just held her in my arms as she died." Derek says and then he breaks down. And I feel so bad. I give him a hug, while Axel just puts his hand on his shoulder. Derek then pulls aways and goes "I want them dead. I need them to feel the pain that I felt." he says that as he gets up. And oh god is this boy broken, I look at Axel and he looks at me. "Well buddy, you're not the only one who wants them dead. So let's go find the other'' Axel says.
