{ Chapter 6 }
Tommy's words hit Grian like a frying pan to the face. Why would someone live in this server with the way Tommy described it?! It sounds no different from an Anarchy server! Grian tried to hope that the blonde's words weren't true, but Tommy's expression was cold and serious. An expression like that was hard to fake.
"You- You're joking, right? You've got to be joking."
Tommy's lack of response was enough of an answer. Grian lowered his gaze and stared at the floor in silence, processing what Tommy had said. Why would anyone stay here? Why would a kid live in a server like this? Grian knew that he and the other Hermits had it easy in Hermitcraft, where you have access to all sorts of rare materials with ease, and where you can find many builds that reach past the clouds to the height limit or sink down to bedrock at the bottom of the world. But this? This was completely different.
Grian gripped the soft fabric of his cloak and sighed. He could feel Tommy's stare, but he didn't look back at the teen. He didn't want to stay here, but he couldn't just leave these people here in this place could he? His thoughts are interrupted by Phil yelling at them from the lower floor,
"Techno made food, come get some before it gets cold! Or we eat it all."
Grian heard Tommy stand up and start walking.
"You comin' or what?"
With a sigh, Grian stood up and followed behind Tommy as they walked down the stairs to the main floor where Techno and Phil were sitting at a table with warm, freshly made food. It smelled like potatoes- And there were obviously lots of baked spuds at the table, that were all sitting closer to Technoblade's place at the table. Grian hesitantly sat down across from Phil while Tommy sat beside the older blonde. On the table were baked potatoes, carrots, steak, and some honey.

The food tasted alright, but it couldn't match the quality that Hermitcraft's golden carrots had. He practically lived off those things. Speaking of golden carrots, he'd need to double check that he still had some left in his E-chest later. Grian somewhat spaced out as he ate, not really paying attention to anything or anyone. He could occasionally feel their eyes on him, but he didn't care much.
"-Grian, are you alright?"
"Huh- Yeah? Spaced out, what?"
"We were trying to talk to you and you just sat there like a lump."
Tommy rolled his eyes as he explained. Techno remained quiet but nodded in agreement with the teen.
"Oh, sorry. Just thinking- And tired. Think I'm gonna head back up."
He swiftly stood up, having finished his food, and headed for the stairs. Tommy just shrugged and continued wolfing down his food while Techno and Phil shared a confused glance. Grian walked into the room he'd woken up in, and makes sure to close the door behind him. He pulls his communicator out of his pocket and attempts to message the Hermits again, though he wasn't expecting anything this time. He sighed when he got the same error message as the previous times. He gripped the fabric of his cape again, and briefly glanced back at the door, making sure it was closed. He then swiftly flipped his cape off, freeing his wings. His large feathery wings stretched out and flapped gently. He brought them closer to his body and gently brushed a hand over the lilac feathers. Grian folded his wings behind his back and paced thoughtfully around the room. He wanted to get home, but he'd need to wait for X to show up. His Watcher powers probably weren't a safe solution, since he hadn't used them in a few years, and he didn't want to scare Phil and the others after they let him stay. Better safe than sorry right?
But something Grian hadn't noticed, was that someone was watching from the door, as they were worried when he had suddenly left the table without an explanation. They watched in silent awe at the sight of the Hermit's feathery lilac wings. Even in the dim light of the room, they looked magnificent.
Grian flopped on his bed in defeat, careful of his wings.
"I wanna go hoooooooome..."
He whined. He really missed his mega base in the ocean, with his best friend and absolute spoon of a neighbour Mumbo.

"I'm never going to hear the end of this from 'Suma."
He chuckles sadly to himself and moves and arm to cover his eyes.
Now, the person at the door may not know who this "Suma" is, but they can guess that they're a friend of Grian's. But they couldn't stop their eyes from wandering to Grian's wings. How had they not noticed? Wings aren't exactly something that are easy to hide unless they're small, which Grian's clearly aren't. They didn't mean to spy on the small Hermit, but they learned something new. And as much as they wanted him to be able to fly around and have freedom in the skies, they knew. They knew that as long as Grian remained in the DreamSMP,
That freedom wouldn't last.
Nothing lasts in these lands.
WOOP! I finally got this chapter out! It's a bit of a shorter chapter, but I like how it turned out.
I wonder who it was that saw Grian's wings? ;)
