s u n d o w n i n gTHEY WERE STARING THE SCREEN OF SCOTT'S COMPUTER.
"Stile," he read out loud, "an arrangement of steps that allows people, but not animals, to climb over a fence."
Amelia frowned. "That's very specific, but something tells me these are not the stiles we're looking for," she mentioned, sarcastically.
"Maybe Malia found something," assumed Scott as Amelia took out her journal from her bag.
She shook her head. "She's been taking a make-up test all morning."
"Lydia?" Amelia exhaled before she opened her journal. "Isaac?"
"We're never going to find these stiles," whispered Amelia as she opened her journal, passing the empty pages before arrived to the page she was writing on.
"Woah... why do you skip pages?" She looked up towards him.
"What do you mean?"
Scott grabbed the journal, showing her.
There were empty spaces in her journal. Sometimes it was the full page, sometimes it was just paragraphs. But they were missing.
"What if you were writing about the person we're missing in these spaces?" He told her and she looked at her journal again.
"Then what did he do to me for me to write..." she started counting the pages that were all in blank. "Thirteen pages?"
"Front and back," chuckled Scott.
Amelia gasped a bit. "My scrapbook. My date, for my prom, he was headless..."
Scott raised an eyebrow. "Your what?"
Before she could explain, the sound of a coyote howling interrupted them, and they both sighed.
"I guess the test isn't going well," whispered Amelia as she put her journal back in her bag, both standing up from the table and running out of the library.
They found Malia in the storage room in her coyote form. Scott stepped forward towards the girl, gently, as the coyote kept growling.
"Malia. It's okay. You're safe," repeated the Alpha, but the coyote simply snarled at him. "I'm not gonna hurt you." She was still growling as Lydia, Lydia's mother and the sheriff appeared. "I think she's calming down" But Malia simply growled again.
"Yeah, I can feel her relaxing," whispered Amelia sarcastically.
The sheriff raised his eyebrows. "Maybe you should growl back?" Malia kept growling at them. "Scott, you're the Alpha. Can't you just make her a little more docile?"
They looked back at her before Lydia talked. "She's not the problem. We are. This is her territory." She began to whisper. "Maybe we need to get out of here."
