Lani's pov:

Vinnie and I haven't been talking since the argument. He doesn't fucking think when he gets mad at me. I am not apologizing unless he does. Knowing him, he's gonna do so first. I've been cooped up in the apartment with Kio and Mochi. Kio didn't seem to bother about what was going on. He was asleep so I decided to take Mochi out for a walk. I was about to leave, I opened the door and I saw Vinnie walking away. He turned around and looked at me. "Hi? Um, what are you doing here?" I asked as I held tight onto Mochi's leash. "I was about to come and apologize but I feel guilty right now. I didn't think you would want to see me either. I kind of pissed you off on Monday. But since I'm already here, wanna talk?" he reminded me about the other day as if I didn't remember.

"Yeah, I was about to walk Mochi for Kio. We can talk whilst I do so. Cmon." I told him and closed the door behind me. We started to walk and entered the elevator. "Are you here to apologize or what? 'Cuz I don't have all day." I retorted. His head was back and he turned it to look down at me. "Can we at least get out of the elevator? It hasn't even been two minutes, Kehlani." he huffed and continued looking up. We made it to the first floor and I walked out with Mochi beside me. Vinnie followed after me. We left the building and started on our way to a coffee shop a few blocks away. "I'm sorry, Kehlani. But after all these years, I still feel like an option. I know you say I'm not one but it just feels like it. Just explain to me how I'm not one." he questioned me. I sighed, "You aren't one because there was never even another option. You have always been the one I've wanted. I dated Chase because I thought maybe you'd say something. And you did. Just two months after I fell in love with him. Chase wasn't even an option either. I never wanted to hurt Chase but I'm always so fucking blind when it comes to shit like this."

"As in shit like this, you mean love?" Vinnie asked me quietly. I nodded and kept walking. We crossed the street and made it to the coffee shop. I gave him Mochi's leash and went inside. I got a few cups of iced coffee for Maddy, Caroline and I (if you don't know who caroline is, she's maddy's roommate and friend). I handed Vinnie the cup holder with the drinks and grabbed the leash back. "Anyways, even if I was willing to date you, I'm not ready for it. I'd give it two months tops." I comforted him, who was struggling to hold the coffee. I grabbed one of them so he wouldn't drop any. "Were you really about to walk Mochi by yourself? You never do that." he remarked and I motioned to Mochi. He realized and laughed. "Is that all we needed to talk about, Vinnie?" I stopped walking for a moment. He nodded, "Well, be careful on your walk. I'll see you later." He handed me the cupholder and walked away. I made it to Maddy's in 10 minutes and they buzzed me in.

I handed Caroline the cupholder and let Mochi go. Maddy greeted me and kissed Mochi on his head. "What took you so long? It usually takes 15 minutes tops, INCLUDING going to the coffee shop." Maddy took a sip of her drink. I sipped some of mine too and gave it a second. "Well, Vinnie and I talked on my way here. Figured out some of our annoying shit." I explained and they both gave me a glare. "You said it would probably take longer than a week. It has been four days, Lani. Four fucking days!" Caroline exclaimed to me. "I know, I know. He came to me. Not the other way around." I reassured them and they glared for one more moment. We moved on from that subject and sat on the couch.

We watched a few episodes of Greys and I got tired so I left. I was walking home and heard a man call out to me. "Nice ass!" he said. I stopped in my path and turned around. I walked over and slapped him. He grabbed me and hit my ass. Mochi bit him and I knew that was my cue to go. I felt that he was following me so I went into the same coffee shop from earlier. I watched the same guy glare at me through the window. I waited there and called Kio. He was asleep when I left so he must be awake now. No answer. I tried to call Maddy. No answer. I called Vinnie even though I didn't want to. He answered and my voice was awfully shaky.

Call with Vinnie:

Vinnie: Hey what's up?

Me: Are you anywhere near the coffee shop?

Vinnie: Yeah I had some errands to run around there. Why?

Me: How far would you say?

Vinnie: Like two to three minutes.

Me: Great. A guy catcalled me and I may have slapped him. He got a hold of me and slapped my ass. But then Mochi bit the guy. He's watching me through the coffee shop window right now. Can you get here please?

Vinnie: Yeah, yeah I got you. See you in a few minutes. Bye, be careful.

I hung up and I patiently stood in the coffee shop. It wasn't too long until I recognized Vinnie. He came up to me and checked on me. "Are you fine?" he asked and held me close. I nodded and was just shaky. He let go of me and looked out the window. He saw the guy and so did I. The man flipped us off and was cursing at us. Vinnie got pissed and ran out. He punched the guy and motioned for me to come out. We heard paparazzi and got into Vin's car quickly. We sped off and made it to my apartment. We ran into the apartment building and went straight to the elevator. We got to my floor and saw Kio was leaving. I let go of Mochi's leash and walked over to my brother. "Woah, what are you doing back so early?" he looked concerned and noticed I was being fidgety.

"Some sick loser catcalled her. She got mad, slapped him. He managed to get ahold of her and hit her. Then something about Mochi biting this guy. She asked me to come get her. I punched the guy and the paparazzi may or may not have seen it." Vinnie explained to Kio. My brother pulled me close and held my head. "Well, I'm sure they didn't catch it on camera. You'll likely be fine. But Lani are you okay?" Kio was worried about me and was still holding me close. I nodded. We let go of each other and walked into the apartment. I sat myself onto the couch and hugged Mochi. "I'm fine. I promise. And thank you Vin. It means a lot to me. I'm just going to take a nap. Wake me up later." I shut my eyes and I was knocked out. I had this overwhelming nightmare of that memory repeating in my head. I always woke up when that guy hit me. It wasn't even that big of a deal. I'm lucky it wasn't worse. It just scares me. Kio was always besides me when I would wake up. I couldn't sleep after the fifth time so I just watched some tv.

Vinnie had sent me a link to a Tik Tok Room post. It was a video that some paparazzi caught of him punching the guy. Everyone in the comments were talking shit about him but no one seemed to notice how I was also there. They must have cut off the part where we were followed to Vinnie's car. I commented "don't be talking shit when you don't even know why vin did that in the first place". I was planning on explaining it later today but it was still all so new to me.
