Smiling from ear to ear, she welcome her father.
"Dad come here," she draw the masters chair and motions her father to sit.
Mas lumapad pa ang kanyang ngiti ng sumunod ang kanyang ama sa kanya. Ang mga mata nito ay tumitingin sa mga pagkain naka hain sa hapag. May pagtataka ito habang sinusuri ang mga kakanin.
"What is this all about Claire?" it was not soft yet still not that harsh when he ask that.
Kinuha niya ang cake na kanyang ginawa at nilagyan ng kandila at sinindihan. Habang papalapit siya sa kanyang ama kinakantahan niya ito.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday day to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday Daddy," there was a smile on her face while singing for her dad.
"Happy birthday Dad. I know this preparation is not that fancy and it's only you and me, but I won't let this day pass without celebrating your birthday."
Her fathers expression softened and blow the candle that was on top of the cake. That made her smile even more. She is happy that his father is not angry anymore. She did really promise that she would make her father happy today and the next days.
"Thank you Claire," he smile but it was force but that was enough for her to see her father smile. She knew if she continue to make her father smile someday bumalik din ito sa dati.
"You are very welcome Dad."
"Is this your doings?"
"Yes but I also asked Nana to help me."
"Mmmm," was all his reply. He started to get and put some foods in his plate.
Claire sit aside the cake just right in the table and sit on her chair. She was surprised by the action. Nilagyan siya nito ng pagkain sa kanyang plato. She was frozen looking at the food that serve by her father for her.
"Don't you like eat?"
"No Dad I love it," she smile at her father. "Thank you."
"Eat now."
There was a long silent while they are eating. It feels like no one dare to start a conversation.
Her heart beats so fast, she is scared if what would her father reaction if she start a conversation. She wanted to tell to organize a new charity just like how their family loves to help. It only stops when her mother left them.
"Would you like to start a new charity again?"
"Dad won't you be mad if I organize a new charity?"
Halos sabay nilang tanong. They were frozen for a second and it was her father who recovered first.
"Why would you think I would be mad? Its not like you don't want and love helping other people."
"I just thought, maybe my mind is just playing tricks."
"You could start finding a organizer to help you out."
"I will Dad, thank you."
"Just tell me if you need anything."
"I will Dad."
"I know someone who could help you, she is a well known event organizer. She even on the top list in the country."
"Who is she?" She focus on her father's words, she got interested to the person her father talking about. She really scent something fishy about it.
"A daughter of one of my father's old friend, her name is Celine. As far as I know she just graduated two years ago and because of her talent she got famous in a instant."
"I'll research about her, if I like her I would definitely get her."
"How about school, did you think already in what school would you like to enroll?"
"Actually Dad it is in my mind to transfer and find new environment."
"And why is that?"
"I - I am , I wanted to am, I wanted to transfer to MSU system. They say that it is a nice school and I know you and mom and my uncle's and auntie's did have am experience at there. You grew up there. I wanted to follow your steps especially both of you and mom's steps. I wanted to study where you both study before."
Nakikita niya ang pagkuyom sa kamay nang kanyang ama. Nag iwas ito ng tingin at huminga ito ng malalim.
"You want to study there? You want to follow their steps?"
She lowered her face and she is shaking, the reason why she did not hear in clear of what her father says.
"I am, I just want to study there Dad. I wanted to experience a new environment. And to have a new life."
"Are you out of your mind!?" Her fathers voice changes so fast.
Now he is back to being the beast. She is shaking in so much fear. She can see the anger on her dads eyes. Right there, she knew this won't go not long and her father would snap again.
"Dad calm down, if you don't like me to study there I won't force you. I won't open up this topic again," heads in low while she is still shaking, she covers her painful eyes.
She thought it was a good idea to open up about her mother again. That was supposed to be her first step to woo her father but it did not work and also it brings back the beast of her father.
Tears on her eyes started to fall, she just feel rejected by her own father.
"I know you love mom that much. I know you are in pain because of her disappearance but please Dad remember I'm always here for you," she is now sobbing, she can't stop her tears in falling.
"Dad please move on. Let's start a new life together. I beg you."
"How can a move on if I always saw your face!? How can I start a new if you are still here always reminding me of that son of a bitch woman!?"
"Dad please. Mom loves you. She won't leave for no reason."
"Shut up!"
"Mom loves you dad, I also love you please bring back my dad."
"I said shut up!" tumayo bigla ang kanya ama sa galit. Sinira nito ang mga nakahain sa mesa. Inihagis nito ang mga gamit na pwede nitong mahawakan.
"Dad stop please stop what you doing!" napatayo narin siya upang awatin ang kanyang ama ngunit bigla siya nitong tinulak at hinugot ang sinturon na naka suporta sa pantalon nito.
Alam na niya ang susunod na mangyayari kaya inihanda na niya ang kanyang sarili upang malasap na naman ang sakit at galit ng kanyang ama.
1 2 3 4 5 whipped, her body is already trembling.
6 7 8 9, she can't feel her legs no more.

Tears on her eyes had been already dried out. No more water falls of water came out from her beautiful eyes. She is now inside the library where she can hide from the painful situation outside. She is holding the book where she had read earlier. It's calling her to read what is inside and she did. She flipped the page and read what is in the book.
First four words and it already shook her world.
