I had this idea I wanted to try out, so that's what I did🤷🏼‍♂️
Though it took so many turns than original thought, but I hope it's okay! I'm actually kind of proud of it.

Tw // Blood, death mentions, probably gore?!, war, Angst, shooting
(Write here if more! It's an angst rollercoaster, but it's also fluffy I swear!)

Third person pov.

A small family, that's all they were, a happy one too. Two dads and their lovely son.

Well at least until a big war broke out and Logan went to serve for the country. Patton and and their little boy on only 7 years, had wished him good luck. It was only supposed to be a quick war, 1 year max. But... That's not how it turned out.

Their son grew older and older. Years passed by and Patton talked to the stars every night praying for them to keep his lover safe and bring him home wholeskinned. They had not gotten any letter from either Logan or the Government (Is that it? or just Military 0-0) for almost two years now. They had no clue where Logan was, what he was doing or if he was okay. Sometimes Patton can't help but let his mind play with him, and tell him he's dead.

Having to raise a child alone was hard. The city was no longer the same, and Patton's job started giving him less money. But Patton stayed strong, he never said anything bad and kept a smile on his face for his son, even if he felt like crying at any point. The first years were tough, not having Logan to guide him, hold him, kiss him, comfort him and yeah even fuck him, argue or be stressed together. He had to make his own choices and do what he felt was right.

He remember his son asking "Why is daddy not home?" or "Is daddy okay? He's alive, right?" with the biggest puppy eyes. Patton had told him he was a strong soldier out fighting for them, and the fact he was alive and would get home as soon as he could. Now his son is teenager. And still he asks his father if Logan is soon to come home and how he's doing. But now their son understands more and hopes more than ever for his dad to hug him and stay.

Logan's pov.

We haven't had food or the needed sleep for the last weeks. I have been training everyday to keep being strong. We have lost many soldiers, friends and company. The war have been going crazy for two years now. No one on this team have been in contact with anyone from their family. I miss Patton, my son, alle the times we had and the memories. Everyday i think of the possible outcomes, maybe this is the last or maybe i still have quite some years. But you don't really get to think of anything, you have to be ready for anything all the times. You are never safe.

Especially this day.

"Logan 4 O'clock!" I heard, i quickly spinned around shooting. Today we're out on open field, same with his enemy. No more hiding, no more sneaking, now was the time to go in for it. I am in the middle row. "Whatever happens Jacob. It has been me an honour" My best pal and the other best on the team nodded at me "same goes for you Logan" we both slightly had a smile on their faces. Smiling was not really a thing you did anymore, same with laughing for real, crying or feelings like those.

Third person's pov.

The day was rough, Logan's head was foggy and his enemies strong, but at the end of the day they had won, the others outnumbered and rest dead. Logan finally gave a smile to Jacob, he felt pain go through his chest suddenly, he was confused. But not for long! He looked down his chest, seeing blood start to rush and he understood. Jacob shot the man who had shot Logan and gave a comand to the other soldiers to keep the enemies in check and take all their weapons away from them.

Logan's knees gave out, him going halfway down, before falling down laying on the ground. He was coughing blood up and he couldn't breathe right. Jacob ran over, taking Logan's head in his lap. "Hey stay strong smart boy, it's okay we won! We'll come home now" Logan smiled "We won" Jacob was crying now, but also smiling "We did Logan! We did!" Logan's mind wandered to images of him running home to Patton and... He didn't realise... His son... He doesn't know how his son looks. So many years and yet, all he knew to was the 7 year old boy he left.

"JACOB! Tell... Tell my family i love them" Logan said, more blood dripping down the crook of his mouth. He had tugged at Jacob's west and tried to get more up. "No Logan. You will have to do it, you are going to do it. Just lay down Logan" he did as told and peramedics fastly got over, but Logan's sight was blurry and the voices distant.

"Breathe.... We need a..... Hurry.... NO..... LOGAN!.... stay.... Okay..... Flight" nothing made sense. The last words he heard, but before he knew it he fell into darkness.

One day when Patton watched the news he saw. The war had been won. It would be over now! He called for his son and they celebrated it. Patton wondered to Logan. And then he got mail not long after.

The letter said:

Dear Patton Heart.

We write to you on the matters of your Husband Logan Berry's attendance in the war. As you might know the war is over.

Now i don't want you to be afraid. We have your husband safely here, but his conditions at the moment is not quite the best. He will recover though, and you out of almost everyone would know how strong Logan is, surely as you are Mr. Heart.

We will write the updates to you good sir.

Best hopes General  Travis.

And updates he did get. Logan healed and survived. Shortly after they had made sure Logan could breathe and walk normally, he was sent home.

Patton was making dinner, when a knock was at the door. "Oh are you having friends over sweety?" Patton asked his dear son, but he answered that he did not have anyone planned to come over "Can you look after the Spaghetti?" he slowly went to the door, surprised to see his very own husband right there. He engulfed him in a big hug "Careful there love" Logan said. His voice was deeper and different, the same with his looks. "I've missed you" "I've missed you too Patt" the two shared a long, sloppy and sweet kiss, before going in. Then Logan went up to surprise his son "such a grown young and handsome man we have here" he hugged him from behind, getting a little shriek, before his son hugged him back with all force.

You could say they were all crying and happy that day.

|| That was it. I imagine Jacob and Logan staying close after. Also I did not want to put in all the trauma or anything, because that would have taken too long, but this is what I made out of nowhere lmao.
