Chapter 8
Magnus's POV
I woke up to the sound of pure chaos.
Alec is nowhere to be seen, while the Institute's alarm blares.
I quickly change clothes, tidy up the room, and walk into the hallway.
Emma passes me with a crying Cristina in her arms."What's wrong?" I ask, slightly concerned.
"Antony, Adele and Rosalie are missing," Emma says.
My eyes widen. That means Raleigh is as well.
"You okay?" Emma asks.
I nod.Emma and Cristina bolt while I run downstairs, looking for Alec.
I find him in the meeting room, surrounded by all the children, and nineteen adults.
"Calm down!" Alec yells, shutting the room up while I take my place next to him."What should we do about Raleigh?" I whisper into his ear.
Alec grips my hand.
"We just pretend that she was never here for now," He replies.
I nod.The kids all look at me.
"What can we do, Uncle Magnus?" Georgia asks. She twists her glasses anxiously.
I wink at her when all the parents are standing to go to their different portals.
Alec watches everyone leave, promising each parent that he will take good care of their children. He looks at the kids."Do you know what their schedule was today?" I ask.
Lissa nods.
"Raleigh, Ashton, Rose, Antony and Adele were all in the training room together after breakfast ended."
"Ashton?"
"Raleigh's friend," John says.
"She must've followed them home," I whisper.
Alec nods subtlely.Luke barges into the room, holding a device, with terror evident in his eyes.
"Where did this date come from?"I watch as Luke assigns the children separate roles, making groups go to different Institutes in the world where their parents aren't.
Alec walks over to me, taking my hand.
"What were you doing in that time period?" He whispers in my ears.
"I was living in London at the time, helping your ancestors and their friends. I had a young Herondale with love problems, along with a sick Carstairs."
Alec nods."Where am I going, Luke?" Atticus asks.
"Nowhere," Luke replies. "The people who aren't leaving are you, John, Zach, Rebecca, Georgia and Eleanor."The six of them immediately start bickering with Luke and looking at their siblings jealously.
"Now go to your rooms and stay there." He adds. "I have Church watching just in case you try to do something stupid."
John leads the way, letting all of them out of the room.
"Where are we going?" Alessa asks.
"You are going to London, my dear," I say.
She claps her hands together.
Alec rounds up the rest of the group."Your mission is," He says in a sexy voice, "Mina, Lissa and Alessa are to go to to the London Institute, just in case they make an appearance there."
Alec whistles, when Dru stands with Tavvy, Rafe, Max and Val."You five will be looking at the Los Angeles Institute. I put the group together because I assume that Tavvy and Dru know that Institute best."
Tavvy and Dru both nod eagerly.Alec pulls out a portal device to let the Britain and the Los Angeles groups to their correct locations.
He places it on the ground, and a swirly blue liquid appeared."Okay!" I call out. "Those heading to LA need to hop in now. If you are missing any items that you require, I will send them to you later today."
Dru, Ash, Tavvy, Rafe, Val, and Max all walk up to the portal, bookbags on their backs.
One by one, each person jumps in, disappearing. As soon as all of them are gone, I swish my hands to change the destination to the London Institute.
"Mina! Alessa! Lissa!" Alec calls. "Time to go!"
The girls do the same as the previous group, and when they're gone, I snap my fingers and it disappears.
I pant a bit, slightly tired from magic overuse."You okay?" Alec asks, pulling me into his arms and resting his chin on my head.
I nod.
"Just a bit tired, my Alexander."
Alec nods, tilting his head to mine, kissing me deeply.*****
"Why do all the cool kids get to go to the foreign places?" Atticus groans, sitting on the bed.
He messed up his hair, throwing his shoe at the wall before he sat down."It'll be okay, At," John says, leaning against Atticus's easel. His silver headphones sparkle against his neck as the sun hit it.
"Yeah," Zachariah adds. "I even know how we can help. It's in New York City too, so they cannot be angry with us."
Church hisses at Zach, his blue fur radiating against the sharp teeth.
"How will we get past this blasted cat?" Atticus asks, being a pessimist.
"Oh, I've got an idea," Zach says, dashing out of the room."Are you okay Atticus?" John asks, going to sit next to Atticus.
"I'm fine," he mutters. "Just a bit upset that we're being excluded."
"Awww."John hugs Atticus, as Atticus curls into his side.
"It'll be okay. We'll find a way to help."
"Thanks Johnnie," Atticus mutters.
He feels something soft against his forehead, about to look up at John, but they both pull away as Zachariah runs in with the girls.Eleanor, Georgia and Rebecca moseyed in, sitting on the bed.
"What's going on?" Georgia asks, her braided hair flopping up and down.
"We want to go into New York, and I have a plan," Zach says.
"You're forgetting about Church," Eleanor adds."Ooh!" Georgia squeals, jumping up and down. "I know how to distract the cat! We have Jem!"
"Ohhhh yeahhhh," Zach says, facepalming as he elongates the word. "I forgot about Dad's bond with Church."
He picks up a squirming cat, sprinting out of the room."So," Eleanor says. "Do you know what Zach's plan is?"
