Chapter 20

Magnus's POV

A/N- TW: Death, Blood, The Hotel Dumort

I watch the vamps and the kiddos before we lower our weapons and everyone greets each other.
Georgia hugs her Aunt Clary, while Eleanor hugs Hypatia, who is a good friend of hers.
John waves a bit awkwardly but runs into Tessa and Jem's arms.

"Who are you?" I ask the vampires.
"Roxy Di-Angelo, sir," the brunette replied.
"And I'm Airy Devitt~Low," the one with curly black hair adds.

I nod.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. Have you been helping the kids?"

Airy and Roxy both nod.
Alec walks over, forming the group into a big circle like we were playing softball.

"I will distribute the sixteen of us into two groups of eight," He begins. "The first group will be Clary, Val, Hypatia, Zach, Jem, Tessa, Eleanor and Roxy. You guys are under their lead, while everyone else is under Airy's. Let's gear up and go face De Quincey and our mystery girl. Beware for the rogue vampires."

I smile at my husband's leadership skills, and the groups gear up, runing themselves carefully, and seraph blade names come up and lighten the darkness surrounding them.

Roxy leads the group, with the kids in the middle, and the adults guarding the back.
As they reach the secret way in, Roxy opens the door, and ushers everyone inside.

Hypatia closes the door behind her, and they all look around.

"I sense a new trail," Roxy says. "Can you sense anything, warlocks?"
"It's Tessa and Hypatia," Eleanor whispers into their ear.
"I sense it," Tessa replies.
Hypatia's magic glows in response.

Roxy goes down the trail, while each warlock muffles their footsteps with magic, including Jem since he's a mundane, while the soundless runes take over for the Shadowhunters.
They come across a well-hidden door.

"My stele won't unlock it," Zach says after he tested it.
"We have this," Clary adds, as she and Val go in and focus on the door, their eyes widening and magic swirling through their minds as everyone hears the latch unlocking.

The group silently claps for them as they take turns walking inside.
Roxy gasps as the night vision comes into place, the witchlight making the room green.

Inside are two dead bodies, an unconscious Lily Chen, and a wide-eyed Mina Carstairs.

Hypatia and Eleanor step back to let Clary and Val unlock the locks, while Jem, Zach and Tessa run to embrace Mina.

"Oh my baby," Tessa murmurs, pulling her daughter into her arms.
She kisses Mina's sweaty forehead.
Jem and Zach embrace the two of them, and the four ignore the rest of the room.

Hypatia waves her fingers, creating a sliding portal that engulfs the four, and sends them back to the New York Institute's hospital wing.

"Lily?" Roxy asks, shaking her mistress gently.
Lily stirs, her fangs visible on her mouth.

"She's thirsty," Eleanor says, being captain obvious.
"No duh," Val whispers, causing Eleanor to smack her upside the head.

Eleanor walks up to Lily and offers her wrist for the vampire to drink from.
Lily's senses awaken her, and she bites into the wrist.

As the blood drains from Eleanor's wrist, Lily gets her 'Lily senses' back and withdraws.

"That was sexy," She says, eyeing Eleanor with an impish grin. "Thank you."
Ele blushes.
"Your welcome."

"What happened to these two?" Hypatia asks, gesturing to the two dead bodies.
Lily shrugs, her hair with pink strands becoming messier.
"I was half dazed. But they were bargaining chips for some mundane girl at a point in time, but the leaders could never find her, so the vampires got bored and drained them instead."

Hypatia nods, making another portal and slips the bodies away to the Sanctuary, hoping someone at the Institute will find and examine them later.
Roxy helps Lily up, and the group slowly walks out of the room.

"What did the people want with you?" Val asks.
"Well," Lily replies. "I was coming home from the Clave meeting, and two people grabbed me and drugged me. While I was dazed, the girl talked to De Quincey, who I figured out later, about her plan. Her goal is to time-travel into the past, befriend the villains of the Shadowhunters past, and then take them to the present and conquer. Apparently, she's already friendly with Valentine and Sebastian Morgenstern."

Clary winces and pales visibly.

"And she wanted to do a similar ritual to what Valentine was going to use on his boat," Lily adds. "That's why she was so careful with gathering all of us this time."

Everyone in the room freezes.

"Why would this girl do this?" Eleanor asks.
Lily shrugs.
"She's the underdog of her family. Her sister introduced the Shadowhunter world to her through Cassie's books. But none of us could've seen this and prevented it."

Val nods.
"Come on you guys. I hear more vampires coming, and we need to regroup with the others."

The whole group goes into a jog, waiting for the Dumort residents to attack.
