Chapter 8

"We will now start the graduation exam. When your name is called please go to the testing room. The final test will be on Clone Jutsu."

Katsumi sunk in her seat and covered her face with her hair. Tadashi smiled and leaned back with his hands behind his head.

"This'll be too easy." Tadashi said.

Katsumi heard some girls squeal. Making her sink in her seat even more. Hopefully, her brother's fangirls will leave her alone today.

The class waited outside for their names to be called.

"Relax, you got this too ya know." Tadashi said to his sister, who was nervously playing with the bells in her hair.

"What if he fails me because the clone comes out weird?" She reaches out and starts messing with Tadashi's hair.

"Hey what are you-"

"We're twins right. Quick, make your hair like mine and sneak in when it's my turn"

Tadashi pulled her hands away and began fixing his hair, putting it in a ponytail. "Relax, you'll be fine. Don't forget about your dream to be a sage. You think dad would approve of you trying to get out of this?"

"Yes." Katsumi said with a huff.

Tadashi rolled his eyes

"Girls girls please, one at a time" even though Tadashi told his fangirls to relax, he still loved the attention. The boy passed with flying colors, making four other clones. Katsumi however, didn't. Her clones were not clones, they looked like black and white blobs. Even so, Katsumi still put a smile on her face until...

"There, you see him?" A woman among the crowd of spectators murmured.

"It's that boy. I heard he's the other student who failed"

"Hmph. Serves him right. Just imagine if he actually became a.. woah-"

Katsumi bumped into two women. "Oh wow, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there."

The two women scoffed. They watched the girl walk over to the boy on the swingset.

"That's the other one that failed." the woman began when they thought Katsumi was far enough away from them.

"Obviously she did, I've never heard of a blind ninja." her friend added.

"Don't listen to them Naruto. They have nothing better to do." Katsumi said as she approached the boy.

"Hmm." he responded

"Don't give up, we will definitely pass next time. How else will you become Hokage?" Katsumi said with a smile.

Normally Naruto would respond with the same energy, but he wasn't feeling it at all today.

"Can I have a moment alone with him?" Mizuki said. Approaching the two.

"Ahh ok. See you later Naruto" Katsumi said as she walked to the training ground..

Katsumi was standing alone in the training grounds, she felt the breeze flow through her hair and took a deep breath. "I just need to do a little more training. I will definitely become a mighty toad sage." She said getting into a stance. Right when she was about to punch the wooden log, she froze. Her body began to shake, tears fell from her eyes "I... I will become a ninja." she said in a shaky voice, it was like she was trying to convince herself. "I will catch up to Tadashi, I'll prove to Neji that I can do it. I'll... I". There was a pause before her legs gave up and she fell to the ground. Katsumi hugged herself and began to cry silently.

"Who am I kidding, maybe everyone was right" she said lying down on her side in a fetal position. Katsumi let her guard down, she kept crying and on occasion covered her mouth to silence some of the whimperings. She already felt like an inconvenience to those who care about her.

Might Guy and Lee were in their 300th lap around the village when Guy suddenly stopped. He heard distant whimpering in the forest.

"Guy sensei? Is something wrong? '' Lee asked, still jogging in place looking at his teacher.

"Everything is fine Lee, don't you worry. Go on ahead I'll catch up"

The boy nodded and continued to jog ahead, counting his steps.

Guy walked into the forest following the sounds of someone's muffled sobbing. His eyes widened when he saw Katsumi on the ground, covering her mouth while she cried to herself.

"Katsumi! Are you hurt? Is everything ok!" Guy ran to the girl and quickly hugged her. She was shaking violently.

"G-Guy sensei?" Katsumi said looking up. Her eyes were puffy and her lips began to quiver. "O-oh no, I failed you too. I-Im sorry." She pushed him away and went down to the ground, bowing her head in shame.

"Hey hey what do you mean? Failed what?" Guy looked at the girl like she had two heads. Then the realization hit him.

"I failed... I can't be a ninja. I really am useless" Katsumi said, her head still glued to the ground.

"Nonsense! You are a splendid ninja. You are still full of youth! You must stay positive!" Guy shouted.

Katsumi didn't move. She didn't want to move, nor did she believe any of the words he was saying.

"C'mon get up" Guy lifted the girl, making her stand on her feet he looked a little ways past her to where her staff was on the ground. "Let's do some sparing, that'll make you feel better."

Katsumi got up slowly. "Yes Guy-sensei" She said softly.

"I see, so she failed," Saratobi said to Iruka as they walked along a path.

"Yes, today they had to do clone jutsu. As you know, a jutsu like that is impossible for someone like her." Iruka said, frowning. It's not like he wanted to fail her, but some parents complained to him saying that he held favoritism towards the girl.

"No no no, this is all wrong. I said be serious!" Guy yelled.

The two men looked at each other and then at the direction towards the sound of the very hyperactive man. They followed it to see Guy standing a little ways away from Katsumi who held onto her staff.

"I don't understand Guy sensei. I'm sparing like I always would-"

"No no, you aren't serious enough. Come at me with everything you got!" Guy said with his thumbs up.

"Are you sure? I-i don't think there would be much difference. I still failed..." She said, hanging her head down.

"You won't go anywhere if you don't put in your all. Fight Katsumi!" Guy shouted proudly.

Iruka frowned again. Isn't this too cruel? The man was about to stop this when the Hokage put his hand out. Iruka looked at him surprised. Lord third pointed at his eyes first, then at the girl, insinuating the teacher to just watch. Iruka nodded reluctantly before looking back at his student. She stood there with her eyes closed and took a deep breath. When she opened her eyes she quickly dashed towards Guy. The man in a green jumpsuit smiled and began blocking and ducking from her actions.

"Yes! That is the way Katsumi!" Guy encouraged.

Iruka couldn't believe the display he was seeing. The way Katsumi fought was very unique. She looked elegant, the way she naturally flowed into her next move. Guy managed to get rid of the staff she had in her possession but she still continued fighting. This time, however, it looked like she was moving a bit faster?

"Guy-Sensei! Are you here-" Lee yelled.

Katsumi heard the sound of her crush and tripped, causing her to fall on her face. Lee ran up to the girl asking if she was ok. Guy barked up a laugh while Katsumi put her hand over her nose and was stuttering over her words.

When Iruka turned to face the Hokage he was nowhere to be seen. The teacher looked back at the girl and smiled. "It seems like I made an error." he said proudly.
